Read an article on USA Today a few years back which states their salary being anywhere from 65k to over 100k annually, dependent in part on if they just drive the truck or if they hold additional functions on the team staff or pit crew. I'll try to see if I can find it.

Are you good at promotions or anything like that? i talk to a guy when Nascar came to Phoenix I went to a Grocery Store where they had the simulators set up and I was taking him while my boy rode the simulator, He says just that, you drive you work the booths you never see the show or races and pretty much if you are able to work your way up you are still working while you are at a event town, the down time is when they don't have an event the next weekend, This week for example they are going from Bristol Tn. to Corona Ca. for a race next weekend, not bad but the 3-4 days leading up to the main race they have events all over town that they have to be at setting up stuff for fans to come out to etc. The money isn't bad they run almost all year they take time at trhe Holidays and then fire back up mid January. Just my 2 Centos worth!

Yeah I have applied for other positions there and the money is good. I spoke to one driver in the fuel island that said they had two teams and would switch out, But he also said that the only way was to know someone and have a super clean record. anything at all will shoot you down.

The guys doing the pre race PROMO stuff and work the ionfo / souvenior booths are not the drivers that drive the main team rigs:biggrin_25513:

I suggest to wait for any vacancy. Also if you know someone you can get into it.

As a truck driver if you can drive the young guns, you are the top. Most of the truck drivers are old and prefer the old canons. Also, add some mechanic skills will help a lot.

Also take care of the fact that whether they offer a contractual or permanent job.

I drove one for 7 years,
It is salary and you earn every penny.
It is the truck drivers job to be sure the rig is stocked with everything the crew wants, food, drinks, snacks, ect.
You spend half your time cleaning the rig by hand.....towels and spray detailer.
The truck driver does NOT work on the cars or in the pits!
The crew flies to and from the track.

Most drivers are in a hotel during the race so they are ready to load up and haul butt as soon as the checkered flag drops.

Now the promotional end is much less stress. It is called Mobile Marketing and many teams just contract this out.
You haul a race car around or the driving simulators.Do shows for sponsors or just set the car up at different locations.
Easy gig,Company expense account and they pay 50 to 75k a year.Stay in really nice hotels too.
I also have done several years of that too.

Most places hire in December for the next season.
Most of the time you need to know someone already in the game.

Oh,And it is a year round job with testing and moving stuff around.
Plus everything gets new logos, wraps and designs for the new season.

I was a regular employee with great benefits and an American Express card for when on the road.
    All expenses paid,Hotels,room service,clothes,shoes,ect...

It was the insane schedule that burnt me out.
