Im a recent graduate from Napier. I have to admit its by far a very good school it teaches all you need to get your cdl permit an endorsements all the way to get you hard copy license. The instructors are very informative in what they teach an they are good people. i recomend anybody that wants to get there cdls or becoming a truck driver to go to this school

school was 5 weeks long i think u get about 10 or 11 hours of driving time an the school hours is 200 80 hours of classroom an 120 hours on the track meaning maneuvers driving an pre trip inspection if u miss any hours u have to make them up state regulations an u can go back for a refresher course afer u get you licsence before you start you job i just did that. no cost i think it cost about 4100 i got a grant cause i was laid off so they paid that for me an if u pay it out of you pocket companies will reimburse you.when in school u will fill out alot of apllications an the companies will do a background check an they will send u a pre hire an u pick which one suits you i just picked roehl cause i like what i heard anyways napier is a good school they will teach you alot to get your cdls an job placement is good you will get a job(pre hire) napier is good also for job placement as well i think i had over 12 hours of driving before i went out to take my test
JustSonny Thanks this. -
Congratulations CJS! I also graduated from Napier, back in September, 2009. I thought it was a very good school also and found it to be a real good experience. I posted a thread on here about my own experiences while attending Napier. Good luck to you at Roehl, I've heard some pretty good things about them. Unfortunately for me, they turned me down when I applied there, but I've still heard some good things.

thanks dodgeram440rt good luck to you as well yea napier was fun
i lost to dallas alot but i did win some green tea from him as well lol -
Ha ha. Don't ya just love baseball?! Three strikes and you're out! Yea, Dallas is one of the good guys, along with Mouse, Big Joe, and the one guy who does the parallel parking (can't think of his name, darn it!). And Butch is a hoot with his trips to the Podunct Chicken Plant to pick up a load of Partially Plucked Chickens!
I have to wonder if Stinky is still there....I hope not! Stinky isn't an instructor, he was a student from a class before mine. I guess the story was he missed some time because his father was sick and was there during my class to make it up. But this guy just can not back a truck up to save his life. All of the instructors had spent considerable time with him, but it just wasn't working. I really hope, for the sake of everyone on the road, that they suggested to him that he try something else. Like it's been said before, trucking just ain't for everyone! BTW, you'll never guess how he got the nickname! -
lol when i was there started in October (stinky)wasn't there parallel instructor was sleepy there all good people yea Dallas is cool only thing i didnt like was sl was in a parking lot that was messud up haha told other students if you can staright line in this u can do it on the test lol butch hes awesome old school person

Ha, you just missed me! I graduated Sept 15.
Yeah, that straightline lot was messed up, but it's true, if you can get the trailer straight in that mess, ANYwhere else will be a piece of cake. We did it so much that it got boring, so we would do stuff to make it more challenging. Try getting off a little, then straighten it up without pulling up. They say to use both mirrors to back up. I would do one pass using just the left mirror, then do it again using only the right mirror. Got it straight each time. Then when I took the test, had no problems. And when I went to orientation and out with the trainer, the straightline back was the easiest part. Getting the 45's down took a little more work. -
sounds good man yea me an couple of guys tried to race when we did the straight line that was fun i had a slower truck so i got beat all the time tried to shift it an give it fuel but the instructors got on me they new what i was doing trying to win so they laughed a little lol i no where there coming from about dont shift gears an give it fuel.. R u with TMC? if so how you like it? I start my orientation next monday at Roehl
