Name on Door

I have seen them both ways.

One truck I am looking to buy has owners name on the door and the lease company on the storage door with DOT / MC numbers.

The only requirement would be for the motor carrier information (company he is leased to)

 

You bumping your time frame up?

 

You can have both names etc, with the operated by by the one that has the authority, but you should only have one usdot number on the truck. That way when you get inspected, etc, the report goes to the right company.

 

My experience has generally been the company you're leased onto on the door (big print) and the company that actually owns the truck on the tank or some other piece of real estate on the side in smaller print.

As a side note, I have also found that the fewer 'layers' there are between the company name on the door and the company name on your paycheck, the better. At one point I think there were about four layers between the name on the door and the name on my paycheck. That sucked. Now the name on the door and the name on my paycheck are the same (company driver) and life is much better.

Too much dock time for my liking and miles are lower than i was hoping for.

Still seeing 2700-2900 paid miles each week.


Just not the level I had hoped for.

I have my name on both doors and a sticker on the flaring (where the handrail is near the trailer) with the company info (wich I will be removing next week) this is where I will put my dot, mc, kyu, puco, and vin.

I never have run anything other than the basic for the company I was leased to, I dont even put their truck numbers on because mine is on the cab card so thats what I use

 

i usually see it in the following manner. for example, "Owned and Operated by Bill E John" followed by leased to "Company name and all the correct ICC, DOT and MCC numbers"
