    Celect plus N14;

    I’ve been reading the quickserve procedure for doing the overhead set. I’m getting more confident & would be a heck of a lot more satisfied if I did it myself. Haven’t really found any great threads or YouTube videos. Though I did find one in Spanish that I’ll post below. It helped give me a better visual. Hard to trust hardly anyone to take the time to run it right, hard for me at least. And I can buy a nice dial torque wrench and the Cummins 6lb torque tool 3376592, and gaskets for right around or less than having someone else do it.

    Looks like I’m supposed to bar the motor over at the accessory drive? Does anyone know the socket size needed and if there are any belts that need to be off? I’m thinking the fan belt will have to be loose right?

    And also it looks like there’s two different methods for setting the injector. 2 flats or 125in pounds. It seems like the torque method is more accurate.

    Would I loosen the lock nut, bring down the set nut tight then back off, doing this three times to release leftover fuel: then with the lock nut still loose, bring the set nut back down the apply the 125in lb torque, then hold the set nut in place and tighten the lock nut back to 50ft lbs?

    Also was reading about using a spray on the injectors, I’ll post that below as well. Any tips, tricks, guidance or suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance

    I have always used the 2 flats method or a dial indicator. 2 flats is easiest. Turn injector all The way down and back a couple times, then bottom it out (just snug with screwdriver) and back out 2 flats. The 6inlb wrench on valves isn't critical. It just makes it easier for consistency. If you don't have one i would go spend allot of money on one. If you have Jake's you will need a dial indicator to set them. For barring the engine i have a Cummins barring tool, flat stock with 2 knobs that hooks the pulley so you can spin it. Its an otc 7161, could easily be made of needed.

    I have always ran a quart of atf in the fuel before adjustment. It burns the carbon which can cause an injector to stick after adjustment. If it does stick running the engine a few minutes usually frees it up.

    I personally have never used aspray on the injectors. Is that for stc injectors?

    Thanks, I’m not sure if that’s for STC. I have a celect plus and that was on Cummins quickserve in the overhead set procedure. Does the celect is have stc injectors? I don’t know...

    I do have jakes, I was thinking about picking up a dial torque wrench anyways.

    Does the fan belt need to be off to bar the motor over?

    Back the injector adjuster off 2 flats.....torque method was used initially but Cummins changed it. A can of good carb spray may come in handy if after you're done you have an injector sticking from being bottomed out, otherwise it's not needed. You will need to bend the straw and aim the spray in a certain spot to free the injector up.

    No belts need to come off. The A B C on the accessory drive pulley can be hard to see so pay attention. 2 flats method is fine

    Thank goodness mine are marked really good already. Do you use the Cummins part to bar the motor over or use a socket/wrench?

    Thanks, after running the overhead, do you watch the motor run with the covers off or just listen for sticking?

    You will feel a misfire if it sticks. Usually just let it run a few minutes and the injector will free itself. I always button it back up and run it. Only takes a few minutes to pull valve cover again

    Thanks, I have the jakes on top off mine. Do I just take those off while I do the overhead, then put them back on?

    Yes, 6 bolts to remove and then adjust overhead, install Jake's and go back through vs marks and adjust the Jake's. You can't reach the valves and injectors with Jake's on.
