Can anyone send me the step by step Cummins service manual for changing an injector on the N14?
I know the process but not all the torque numbers and overhead numbers.
Thanks!

There are posts on here about newly installed injectors failing. As I recall blow out around the old injector with brake cleaner and then air.
That was possibly from interjet? Thanks whoever shared that.W923 and Kruse Family Farms Thank this. -

I have seen them crapping out at 30, 300 or 3000 miles. Got them from the same independent builder I have for over 30 years now. Found out they do not even build them in house anymore. Just buying and resale anymore.
Field test bulletin from Cummins years ago was to unplug the injector harness on the rocker housing pass through connector. Which cylinder is misfiring?
So are you in a hurry? Do that and push a back probe pin in to the connectors on different injectors. I know no exact readings you are looking for but mine were about the same. I replaced the injector ( with a Cummins recon ) and it ran worse then before. Pass through harness between the injector and housing was bad.
Try not to be in a hurry. Maybe swap that injector with it's sister under the same valve cover.W923 and Kruse Family Farms Thank this. -

The connection on the injector could be the problem.
Interstate McBee was the source I used.

You asked for instructions
I don’t have anything handy but I do them often enough to have it memorized lol.
Best I can tell 99% of the ones I replace have something wrong on the electrical side. The idle miss is the most common complaint I hear. Ocassional miss under load.
Once you determine which one to replace remove the valve cover and Jakes ( 6 7/16 12 point bolts) if it has them don’t forget to unplug the wire on the passenger side
Back off the valve and injector adjusting screws
Take off the 2 9/16 12 point bolts holding down the rockers and remove the rocker assy
Remove valve cross heads
Undo the wiring from the pass through on the inside
Remove the 3/8 12 point bolt and hold down holding down the injector
Use a heal bar to pry the injector out of the hole works best if you grab the injector with the other hand and twist.
Clean injector hole with old dull flat screwdriver and rags
I know others and the book says with the special wire brush but I hate that idea because brushes shed and guess where the wires go. Just be gentle with the screwdriver so you don’t damage the brass seat.
Might undo the fuel solenoid wire and crank a few times to blow out the diesel fuel that will drain into the cylinder when you pull the injector. Or bar over 2-3 revolutions by hand after reinstalling.
Lube the hole and the o ring part of the injector with clean oil install with a push and twist motion if it doesn’t hit hard on the bottom of the hole be leary of damage to the o rings which will cause fuel to get into the oil and cause big trouble
Reinstall the hold down torque 38-40 ftlb
Plug in injector to pass through
Replace valve bridges
Install rocker assy (make sure the pushrods are properly seated) tighten 9/16 12 point bolts alternately to 115 ftlb
Set injector then valves
Exhaust 27 intake 14 injector about 2 flats loose from bottoming ( like with 2 fingers on a stubby wrench) or use a dial indicator on the spring cap and set to .025 lash
Set cyl 1 and 6 on mark a
Cylinder 2 and 5 on b
3 and 4 on c
On accessories drive pulley watch to see which cylinder has both valves loose and the injector rocker down to find your place in the firing order
Tighten lock nuts
Install Jakes tighten to 75 ftlbs evenly start in the middle and then corner to corner set lash about .005 looser then it says on the data plate near the Jakes plug
Put the top back on and your donebroke down plumber and Kruse Family Farms Thank this.
