I'm looking at an truck, 92 Peterbilt with an N14 Cummins. I'm planning on trying to lease to Landstar but recently they just converted new hires onto Electronic logs meaning you have to have an Electronic motor (so what i was told) to lease on. I know they made N14's up to the early 2000's so I'm not sure if it's one of the early Mechanical motors or the other. Really like this Truck, actually if i can't lease it on to Landstar I might just go out on my own but i prefer to try Landstar first...
N14 Cummins Mechanical or Electronic??

Pretty sure n14 is electronic. NTC is the mechanical predecessor IIRC

Picture of the driversside of the motor will tell.
Afaik all N14 on road engines were electronic. They should be painted black. Isx should be red and older mechanical motors tan.

the first N 14 were mechanical injected, a 1992 could easily be mechanical, but you can find some untill 1996, I love those N14, they are powerful and very reliable as well as good on fuel.
I knew a guy in California that had two 1991 mechanical N14 500 hp, those are the only ones I have ever seen. -
I've seen mechanical ones before, as well. Did you see an ECM anywhere when you opened up the hood? Or did you notice a bus port anywhere in the driver's compartment?

Landstar or not If the Truck is in Pretty Good shape Id Go with the N14 for reliability. There easy to tell what you have in Mechanical or Electronic Motor Just by looking at Motor and Wiring Harness. The Old NTC's aka Big Cam Motor, and KTA's are all mechanical.

Truck had new injectors but he didn't have any paper work on it, 1.3 million on the truck... cosmetically the truck looks good
