A lot of car washes use zep with good result's. Good quality water helps, lots use water softeners when they recycle their water.
My own truck wash, suggestions for de-greaser?

I also use a spray on ceramic wax from Meguiars. You spray a few times per panel on a freshly washed vehicle then rinse it off. It does a great job helping the water bead up and keeping bugs and grime from sticking.
I do a maintenance treatment every 3 months or so. If you use it, don't overdo it. A little goes a long way. $20 at walmart.Last edited: Aug 22, 2024

Thanks for the responses. Sorry ive been pretty busy this past week or two. I did wash the truck this past Tuesday, just used soap and water basically. It wasn't very hot so I did use the brush again. But, I didnt feel I done a good job and went to Blue Beacon Friday afternoon in Richmond, Indiana
.
Someone on here suggested a foam cannon. I did order a few off of amazon and used it. It was ok, im sure I could've prepared or put more soap in there to make it more "sudsy". But like I said I ordered a few and will definitely try it again next wash.
Im definitely gonna have to get a water heater of some sorts. I may order it this fall instead of late/winter early spring as I had planned. Wish I had given that some serious thought this year perhaps I would already have one.... -
Not sure what you are doing differently than I do, but I am satisfied with my wash job with unheated water. I am all about ease of operation and if I have to haul multiple items to the truck to do a truck wash, I will likely not do it. Do what works for you but tap water works for me the vast majority of the year. I don’t wash myself below freezing. There is nothing fancy about it, but it is quick and works. 1.5 hours start to finish tractor and trailer. I chamois the tractor also.

Dawn dish soap.
If it works on poor oil covered ducks it will clean your filthy truck -
No FLHT, if you read the OP's initial post you would have read they aren't a fan of Dawn dish soap as a vehicle degreaser either.
Any degreaser is going to be terrible on any applied wax. Dawn is pretty pointless overall. Seems to work adequately on road splattered insects.
As others have suggested plain cold water will "clean" your truck but they specifically asked for a degreaser.
Zep products are pretty darn good just be careful. I recently accidentally removed the burner decals from my Napoleon BBQ Grill with their heavy duty oven and grill cleaner. It borders on professional grade imo. Their Crystal Heat drain opener I have used for years residential/commercial. I really like their milder citrus kitchen cleaner & degreaser. All in all as others have said Zep makes good stuff!
With that said none of their products would be feasible assuming he wants to wash at scale either commercially or semis. Degreasing specifically is an art form and there are other products way better suited to degrease at scale. Manufacturing gave up on chemicals largely because of cost and have switched to this:

I did milk hauling for six months and the products i posted are as good as it gets for food grade commercial heavy grease removal while being conscious of our environment. That Nelson Carlson powder with hot water & a brush is as good as it gets. Trusted in the industry for years as it doesn't eat, pit or otherwise damage any of the multiple surfaces you find on semi's.
They also make a liquid alkaline cleaner you foam on that smells very bleach heavy but it literally dissolves milk solids before your eyes with a lot less scrubbing although at 5x the cost. It also states may cause pitting on aluminum. -
I keep a bottle of Dawn in the truck and a brush.
Makes quick work of the Love Bugs.
