I decided to buy the Honda 3000 to power a portable a.c. unit. I can't stand idling. Probably way more than I need, however, found it used in great condition at a fair price.

    Also picked up an LG 8000 btu a.c. unit. 01.jpg 02.jpg 03.jpg

I had a local fabricator customize a lockable box for me. It's pretty nice.

I set up the a.c. and got everything going. The generator easily powers the unit on ECO-MODE.

    Here's some pics.

Nice. It's much better than any APU. If i didn't nave TRI PACK on the truck installed when i got the truck i would definitely go the same way, and maybe split air AC.

Thanks, yeah, I just couldn't justify the cost of an apu. I already cranked up the a.c. unit and an 8k btu is way more than I need. However, guess it's better to have more than not enough.

    TallJoe and Terry270 Thank this.

Hi. Thanks for sharing. How much did you pay for boxes? And do you think ventilation for Honda will be enough?

Yes, I provided plenty of ventilation with the lid open and the side doors open there's plenty. The boxes with customization and install ran me about $1500. I'm in the whole set up including the a.c. and generator for about $3,300

Those generators are freakin' sweet. You can hardly hear them running they're sound-proofed so well.

I have an idea to install box under trailer and make 110V connector besides air hoses. Will be no noise in the cab at all and no worry about exhaust CO2 :) don't have trailer yet. Just an idea.

Well, I'm putting a carbon monoxide detector in my cab this evening, just in case ;-)

Yeah, especially on eco-mode, you can't even hear it in the cab at all...
