This weekend I did a 34 restart. Since it was cold, it worked out just as well economically to get a hotel room vs. idling the truck for the entire time. I had my office staff (ex-wife) book a one night 3-star hotel room for me through Priceline's new daily deal or whatever it's called. Ended up at a LaQuinta, at a rate of $68, plus $15.52 tax, for a total of $83.52. Washington, DC area on Friday night. I'd call that reasonable.
After I checked in, I decided to book a second night. It was at that point that I remembered that I'd signed up for the CLC card. The card was at home, so I had the girlfriend scan and email it to me. I checked their website for participating hotels in the area, but the one I was in did not come up in the list. When I checked with the front desk, they said they DID have a CLC rate, and it was $54 / night all inclusive.
Score!
Just wish I'd remembered the card before I booked the first night.

Don't forget to add the CLC charge of $4.95.

Did you inquire about the "CDL" or "business" rate? I've stayed at hotels where that knocked nearly 50% off the price of the room.
Rounded_nut Thanks this. -
Double check with CLC for that rate. I have used my CLC in the past without calling CLC for the rate and was billed a higher amount by CLC when I checked my statement. When I called CLC, they told me that I should have called them first for the rate. I have also found that on occasion, some hotels will let you have the CLC rate without running it through CLC.

The hotel is telling you what they charge CLC, then CLC charges you a % more for the service they are providing .

I always go for the "senior citizen rate"..........He-he-he

I used to use priceline's name your own price feature. Got some crazy good rates, but a couple times I had to drop the trailer and bobtail or get a cab. Now I mostly check out reviews off of google maps and make sure they have truck parking. A couple of my favorite haunts are the Best Western @ Terrell, TX (seems like I always get stuck for a few days one way or the other in Dallas) and Quality Inn @ Kernersville, NC. just nice people, clean and reasonable with good eats and shopping nearby.

Sometimes ClC is cheapest, sometimes not.....always call and ask your rate first then see what rate you can get yourself!

We have used them for 10+ years and until lately it was good. Now everytime the r e is a problem and if you call them they are never wrong. Now in order to get the really good prices you have to spend 1000 nights a month. Sucks if you have a small business.

Definetly look at other options. Lots of times cheaper and you dont have to fight with them
