Hi if you have two trucks. Can you insure one from a different insurance company and the second one from another different insurance company for the same authority?

First question is why would you do that? What is your short term, long term strategy?

Then second question is wouldn’t you just have a multi unit blanket set up under one authority everything same insurance agent/company?

As you expand your fleet insurance probably give you a bulk discount depending on unit count because of loyalty of course

I suppose you are hauling different product with different trailer types? Perhaps different divisions of the fleet? one insurance company for flatbed and another for dry van fleet?

Yes you can. I would not.
Most times you see multiple insurers involved in one company is different bobtail coverage.

I was advised by my insurance agent, Insurance companies don't like that and you may end up with an accident neither company will pay for. Both companies say the other company has the liability. You sit with broken equipment and no repairs paid for and a lawyer bill to fight both companies for a claim.
