I was wondering how it is working for owners ?! I get tiny discount plus recent add credit card charge fee ... How is the company making money ?! Have contract pricing for bulk amount of fuel and share profit with drivers ?! ... Just never thought about , but noticed address on my mudflap receipt in the email showing residential neighborhood with midsize townhome
    Can someone pls educate me

    You and me both bro.

I've heard of 'crowd sourced' something - , do they generate revenue from retailers if Mudflap directs traffic to their location?

That would be my guess, increased traffic to a location is the value add. And i think they charge the truckstops some kind of subscription.

plus they definitely take at least .001 $/gallon, likely more.

They are worth it... when they are worth it, and arent when they arent.

A lot of businesses are classified as ‘growth businesses’. Companies like Uber have never turned a profit since they started. What they do get is a massive amount of users so in their infinite wisdom, investors see this as a strong business. They think that eventually when they figure out how to turn a profit they could be massively profitable like facebook and amazon. Lots of technology companies are growth companies. Mud flap could probably be considered a tech company.

I dont know if this is the case with mudflap but figure it could be. But who knows. A few million pennies here and there can probably add up.

I started using it last spring with 2 trucks. Some days the discount is more than other days. When they started the 1.9% fee I started looking at other places. Where we run regularly QT has started expanding & they usually beat everybody else. Last week I went to NW Ar. & one mudflap station was cheaper than QT even with the cc fee.I don't know how they make their money but it has saved us a pretty good chunk.

i believe they try to get as much people as possible and after people get used to the discounted price - cut the discounts ...similar things with uber - i remember when uber was much cheaper , a lot of taxi coS went out of business , medallions lost 75 or more percent of value and uber started raising prices and their fee to dispatch the order for the drivers.
i paid attention to one gas station that i used literally every week , same diesel price (i mean 5-7c fluctuation) , discounts were from 65c down to 20c ...:(

I use a debit card. I don't think I have been charged the 1.9 percent fee. Or, maybe I don't know what to look for.
I started using mudflap, 2 years ago. I think the discount used to be better. Some trips East I can fuel mudflap all week. Some going west not at all (low or no discount).

Advertising is my guess. You got me to thinking about it.
I think it is an "ad agency" posing as an app. The retailers I am sure pay mudflap a fee to be seen in their app. The more the merrier and is the goal for Mudflap, and if it becomes the go to app for fuel everybody is going to want to be on that app and be seen by you the consumer. If I am wrong , then it is still doing that. It is a way to start a business without investing a penny. A little tech knowledge is all anyone needs. ( I could be way off base, I have never seen the app). Opportunity : )
