Hey all,
Here's my question.
Lost a steer mud flap, no biggie, stopped and bought a replacement. However, looks like the old one was riveted but with no center hole in the rivets. So before I screw up the fiberglass it's riveted into, can someone suggest something?
Originally thought I could pop out the rivets and use bolts but there is no access to place a nut.
btw, it's a freight shaker classic xl

Autozone will rent or loan you a rivit gun and sell you the rivits, if your close to one. Or just buy the gun and rivit kit for future use.

Home depot had them before, don't know forsure anymore but you can call them. You can install a butterfly nut and bolt. Home depot forsure. Stick the bolt or screw through the mud flap then screw on the spring loaded winged nut, fold and poke through the hole for all the holes needing bolts do this at one time. Pull on bolt and screw in with fingers while holding the tension tight until it holds itself, then tighten with wrench. Just a thought. Hope this helps.

Drilling them out is the easy part. Once out there is no access to the inner part of fender, it's all molded fiberglass.
Thanks for the replies -
If you use the butterfly toggle bolts they will work, they are for blind holes. They also sell a tool for installing nuts in blind holes permenate. It has like a flare bushing that goes through the hole hooked to the nut and the tool used to install it (special pliers) colapses that frame infront of the hole and nut behind it. So its flush. They use them in doors to install mirrors so it can mount to the thin door sheet metal. They arent that much to buy. I had one 10 years ago. Threaded Insert Installation Tool. They come in many different sizes. This one you don't need pliersThe link was just a quick find for you to understand what you get for 8.00 or so.
