Moving to Cheyenne Wyoming

    I am making plans to move Cheyenne, Wyoming in the next few years. I'm doing my homework and would like some advice on what is possibly a good driving job for me. I'm gonna be 54 or so when I make the move from Michigan. I would like to have an idea of what jobs are available and what winter is like. Might search for either a local job or regional route. I'm considering going from van to flatbed because I'm not crazy about pulling van in the winds out there. I appreciate any advice out there

    Walmart DC in cheyenne wy. Also a hub for oil activity. Sinclair, plains are both top companies. Flatbed work in the area is all oil field. And the wind is not that bad on a van.

    Seems like you only hear the bad things with some drivers . I've heard that you can't drive a empty van trailer at times because of the wind .

    I currently drop hook to the Walmart DC's. Easy in and out. I hear the pay is decent with them and can drive day cab at some DC's. Being home at night would be nice for the right money. Not opposed to staying in vans.

    It's been awhile but a while back when I was checking out the area there where adds for a dedicated driving job hauling Budweiser outa Fort Collins Co. Those loads will keep ya anchored down until m/t Scan0009.jpg

    If you are considering moving from van to flatbed....CAST transportation out of Laramie Wy.

    CAST has both vans and flats and more.....

    So you are 54 and would rather play with chains and tarps in subzero weather?? Jbs carriers haul some beef man!!

    Well, there are a lot of them blown off the road. But it is mostly because of driver inexperience. If it's windy enough, slow down! If it's too bad, STOP (somewhere safe of course.)

    Let me ask you this; if it's too windy for an empty van to be moving, how are you going to like trying to tarp a flatbed load????
