Fixing to move to CA in a few months, would appreciate any tips/info on the license transfer process. Would also appreciate some advice on when’s a good “time frame” to start looking/applying for a job. Anyone know if some companies will start hiring process in middle of license transferring? Scared of transferring license, ending up w/no job, and needing to stay in TX longer but with no TX-CDL. Appreciate any info to help get the ball rolling.

Legally you 30 days after landing in Tx, to have your cdl updated. Bring documents indicating your lease, or real estate purchase. Also current CA license, SS card, birth certificate, bring your passport( if you have one). Married ladies, also bring along your marriage license/certificate, if you changed your last name.

Usually everyone wants to leave Commiefornia and move to Texas. What gives? Cost of leaving is here ridiculous here. Anyways, you can go for Food Services here, depends what your looking for, food service is basically local with plenty of overtime and probably could Justified the cost of living long as you get in a union. Just my .02. Goodluck

Best thing I could tell ya is to stay in Texas. Although several ppl have left cali for Texas. The lone star hasn't turned into anything like cali.

I very seldom go to cali. But the last two times I was out that far left. The amount of homeless encampments that I saw was amazing the first time. But even more than that the second time.

With the High taxes and etc. There is nothing that could convince me to move to Cali!!! I'm surprised that record lottery winner hasn't left.

Was in the LA area last year when gas was just over $7 per gallon. So I called up my cousin that I haven't seen since 2020. The woman told me she couldn't make it from Long Beach to Montebello because groceries, gas, and her utilities had gone up quite a bit! I said wow cuz, I was just hitting you up because I was in your area. But I quickly realized I needed to get back to Texas where things were affordable after I got dinner.

What part of California are you moving to? DMV is almost always better in the small towns than the big cities. Call the DMV in the area you'll be living and make an appointment. Be sure to have lots of documentation proving citizenship.
Right now is a good time to be looking for work. If you have all your endoresements, some experience, and a clean driving record you shouldn't have much trouble finding a job.

Schedule an Appointment - California DMV- California DMV
