I got suckered into helping a moving company load a 4 bedroom house this past weekend.

There is no form on here on the moving companies. Anyone got some info on that line of trucking?
Pay, help, troubles, and so on.

There's a lot of different angles for this. Van lines, independents, local, regional, long distance etc. The money can be big but getting it is tricky. Regulations are also onerous relative to freight. Also a lot more people problems. Refine your question and you'll get a much tighter answer.

Like some of the big rigs carry a crew of help in their studio sleeper, and all of them look like they came from the gym.

What happens when something is messed up, scrached or broken? I'm sure it happens often.

How hard is freight to find a way back home?

    How long are you out?

when a peice or box gets damaged we try to fix it as best as possible, or repack the box, if the piece is a total loss, well we let the claims dept, handle that.as an o/o that would come out of your pocket, witht the option to contest it. the guy who carry a crew couod be agencies crews/driver or a an o/o with his own set crew, i cant answer the last one to much becasue im a part time class B driver and part time helper/packer/lumper. the agencys and UVL always have something moving.

Moving is a tough business . I have been in the local and state wide moving business for 18 yrs and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone . No fork lifts or pallet jacks , all by hand truck or dolly and hand . Turn over rate in moving is probably higher than trucking by itself . There is a lot of money to be made but the toll it takes on your body over the years is not worth it in my opinion . Im 18 yrs in and Im ready to sale my company and equipment and put my CDL X to use in other fields of trucking .

    lee2442 Thanks this.
