No worries. They are company trucks......but many of the drivers have been brainwashed into thinking it belongs to them. Lol

If you are and owner operator (which means you can do what you want and put your truck on with whoever you want and your name , and the lien holder if necessary,is on the title) then I suggest a BFG bumper that will take care of the whole front end. They are good looking and cost about 3K.

Thanks, I hadn't heard of BFG but it appears that they are a Herd product. I've seen Herd and Ali Arc bumpers … wondering how common animal strikes (or parking escapades) are and how big a hit in the mpg one might typically see.

A friend hit a good sized deer at about 70 mph with a Ali Arc. The deer just bounced off, no noticeable damage at all. But next time she went to open the hood the Ali Arc wouldn't open, it was pushed in the middle just a small amount, but enough that the hinged portion was binding against the base. They used a small come-along to pull out the top portion enough so it didn't bind.
The Herd bumpers are the toughest ones around. I've seen people drive away after hitting a moose at full speed, one fellow did lose a headlight assembly and some fibreglass on a corner, but no tow truck was required.
And several say they saved their bacon in parking lots.

    For your consideration...........

Other than deer there are many other things you can hit. Traffic barrels that get blown or knocked in your path, a piece of furniture that falls off a four wheelers trailer and other obstructions. Last week I hit a crate of plastic signs that fell off a hot shot flat bed. Nothing happened to the truck. If my grill guard wasn't high enough the debris would of hit the upper right side of my hood

What's the lesson. Get a grill guard that will protect the entire front and fender portion. Trust me on this...........:headbang::headbang:

BFG ( big front grill) is a herd product. The grill guard is made from polished stainless steel. BFG has a web site too.

In would get it at Chrome Shop Maria in Joplin MO. They will probably have to order it. Let them install it. Trust me on this. Good luck.

Edit. If you find it at a retailer cheaper they will match it.

I have hit 3 deer in the first year with Prime. Only once was there any damage to the truck. The other two, the only damage was to the license plate bracket on the deer guard. While I'd like a BFG or the like, I'm glad to have this rather than nothing.

Three "animal strikes" in one year sounds like a high incident rate, what would you attribute this to? Is this typical for an otr driver?

I attribute it to being a dedicated driver rather than OTR, and I do mostly overnight driving through farmland.

Coming down from Easton. Hit what looked like a wooden crate. It was dark and foggy and then... There it was.

It pushed the deer guard up against the bumper
