    Just purchased a new Monkey Made MM9 short shaft. My question is have they changed them or did I get a knockoff. My old MM9 only had 1 mast set screw plus a larger tube that the coil is welded to like the one pictured

    OK....so whats the difference between your old one and the new one? (you didn't say)

    I haven't bought a MM in years, but builders often change things up a bit from year to year especially if they get enough complaints about a particular part failing, or maybe they just want to improve on the design.

    Just seems cheaper harder to set swrs. The old one looked like the one I pictured

    Could be they are made in China now...no idea...

    Had you bought a Predator 10K, I can guarantee those are still made one at a time in Burleson TX! :D

    Supposedly made in the USA. Had a Predator with the dual coils K-2-6sw. My old Monkey Made mm9 short shaft seemed to do a better job at receiving. Probably just opened a can of worms by saying that.

    Haven't had the opportunity to try one of the lil sweeties yet, but from just looking at them, the coil section is about half the diameter around as the regular 10K's, plus you have two coils with more turns in each to get the over-all height of the antenna down to around 58-60"...

    Kale told me a while back he was going to build some, and is selling quiet a few, but I haven't had a chance to get by his shop to get one to try out, so I have no idea how they perform...

    Coil on the left is the lil sweetie, other one is a regular Predator 10K coil.
