Mm prob is weight and the fact its a one piece..Predators were compared with the 102 by cbradio magizine and did very well..Almost no diff actually..With a mm your stuck with what you get, predators you can mix n match coils,shafts..

You can do the same thing with mine.
[IMG]Except it's a little more precise . The Predator antenna comes with a predetermined coil length and you have a choice of one or two but if you want to subtract 1 single Loop you cannot do so with the predator .

1 coil equals 5 or 6 wraps and what if you want to subtract 2 of 6 wraps you would have to cut the coil and I'm not quite sure how that would work.
Mine is just 8 gauge copper wire which is really easy to cut. I could peel off (or add) as many wraps as I want.

Maybe, but what he posted had nothing to do with the subject of the thread...

No your right, you can't cut off wraps of coil on a Predator 10K... You can however add or take off or change to different coils on the Predator's by just unscrewing the coil off the lower shaft and top section...Cowtown Antenna's has several different coils available to use on the 10K's and different lower shaft lengths...With the exception of the 30K, all the other Predator Antenna's have interchangeable parts, which means if you have a regular single coil 10K, you can buy the coil that comes on the "Bad to the Bone" antenna, and stick it on your regular single coil 10K, or add a short coil and make a dual coil 10K...More wraps of coil= shorter antenna which is going to compromise the antenna's efficacy to some extent, but sometimes you just need a shorter antenna...Different strokes, for different folks.

One other thing to note...The antenna you have maybe easier and cheaper to shorten by cutting off a little wire...BUT! If you later decide you want to go back to having a longer antenna...."Good luck trying to stick that wire you cut off, back on!"

Easy to do by replacing entire coil..
    Total cost = $2.00
