This is a flatbed company in Wyoming, MI

    OTR
    Dont pay for tarping
Another driver got paid $14 to deadhead almost 200 miles
You do get weekends off, IF you have the hours to get home after they run you all week.
Percentage pay is lower the standard

    My local Route

I took over a local route that was SUPPOSE to be 4 days a week starting at 10pm to 6am
Ended up sitting in loading docks for 4-5 hours daily and running out of hours.
There solution was to make this a 5 day run which only made the problem worse. I routinly was not leaving untill almost 1-2 AM and was not compensated for the time. No detention pay, no breakdown pay, NO RASIES EVER and this was point blank told to me.

There are alot more issues with company that i am not going to get into, But if you have questions please feel free to ask.

1 year, I just left in February. These are just my experiences, I know a few other drivers who are happy there. But i know alot more who arent. I was told time and time and time again that the problems with my route would be fixed. and it never was.

I wouldnt tell anybody who NEEDED a job not to go there, But i would recommened to search elsewhere

I actually just quit there. More for family reasons then for a bad experience and I would go back if the time was right. Granted i was only there for a couple months. I never had any problems with them. I was always home Friday evening and leaving Monday morning. I had a few deadheads over 175 miles and was paid each time $75 for them. I do agree that the no tarp pay was kinda crappy but was always told it was in the price of what it paid the truck blah blah blah. lol. Good luck with your next opportunity.

lol, Yea and like i said, These are just my experiences, Just like EVERY other trucking company out there, the view of the company will be ditacted by the individual experiences with the company, dispatchers, managers or whatever. Most of the ''BAD'' that happened to me was on the Local run.

I do appreciate your input and maybe i just had bad luck, but i figured i would put it out there so no one would be suprised if it happens to them also.

    Good luck to you also

In case any one is still interested, I visited Modular Transportation today because of the lack of information on them. I called ahead and was told I was welcome. I spoke with a recruiter, the in-house trainer, a fleet manager, and a driver. They were all very real and welcoming. I was told that some of the info on their website is out of date and they plan on correcting this as soon as they can get to it. It is a relatively small operation. Here are a few key points to know:

-One terminal in Wyoming. One in Columbus, MS. Operate independently (did not inquire about Columbus operation).
-Flatbed only, hauls steel regionally to WI, IL, IN, MI, OH, PA almost exclusively.
-OTR and dedicated accounts and a few multi-axle trailers. apparently all steel hauling.
-Percentage pay 23-26%. Average gross to OTR driver is currently $970 week.
(some drivers don't work as hard so this brings average down. Some are very motivated and can get a bit more.)
-Home every weekend. Never a guarantee but this is how they operate. A driver has to push for available weekend loads if desired.
    -Very new 2 week orientation/securement training. $75 a day.
-OTR training afterward. Length dependent on performance. $75 a day.
-No Cost health insurance after 90 days. Dental and Vision after a year.
-All paper logs with transition to e-logs by mandated 2017 time frame.
-Macks, Freightliners, Volvos leased to the company.

Plus many other little details that I will omit for now.
My take away feeling is that it could be a good fit for the right kind of driver.
I will be keeping them on my short list as I go through CDL school.

    FWIW, Driver JD

Modular is doing the in house deliveries for Alro Steel. Talked to them years ago, the runs didn't appeal to me. And the pay was per run, wasn't much, but they had plenty of runs. And FREE health insurance.

josh they do offer dead head pay and detention pay also but you was on a dedicated run thats why you dont get it its part of your run to do the miles loaded or empty i have been there for almost 8 yrs and love it and know many of other drivers that are happy there and i know many that arent happy there but thats with any job i dont make a million dollars a week but i make enough to keep me happy and im home every but if i break my pay down hourly with my run i do i make just about $25 a hour and im good with that being im home every day..... cant really say anything bad about the company that your not going to get from any other company/job

    UPDATE:
I have been fighting to et back on the site for the past year and have been able to crack my password, haha. I see a lot of comments have been made since I was last on and I just wanted to do a little update.

I have since went back to work for Modular as of July 2014. I am on a new route working mornings, Monday through Friday and everything is going really good. I also got my uncle employment on my old route I was having issues with and he is extremely happy and is not having any issues what so ever. I probably could have handled me leaving better and not left public comments the way I did and I have repeatedly asked the website to remove my post and they, every time, have said no. To date I am still a dedicated driver for modular and I'm happy enough with my current situation to know I will be here for the foreseeable future with no plans of leaving. Decent pay, free health care and a paid week vacation every 6
