Does anyone know the model number for this transmission. Also, what is the final overdrive gear ratio and assuming I have properly geared rearends, say a 264 or 279 (whatever the numbers are) how fast can I go within reason?

The single overdrives are the A ratio and the double overdrives are the B ratio. The final gear ratio is .86 in the A.

18 speeds are either 0.73 or 0.86 final drive
you can calculate road speed here

264 0r 279 rears ????????????????
OK let's say you want 100 MPH.
100 MPH X .73 Tranny X 264 Rears X 1100 X 24.5 = 470 Rev per Mile
= 1510 RPMs.
100 X .73 X 279 X 470 = 1595 RPM's.
Now with .86 Final drive.
100 x .86 x 264 x 470 = 1067088000 = 1778 RPM's
100 x .86 x 279 x 470 = 1127718 / 60 = 1879.53 RPM's. -
I would have driveline on the ground in one day with those gears...t800kwopper Thanks this. -
OK, I'm missing something. I have looked at a list of Eaton Fuller 18 speeds, both ratios and I cannot find a single overdrive listing. Every model list the final ratio as .73.
Can you be more specific as to the model number? -

Uhhhhh, I left one part of the equation out, thinking it was self evident, maybe not.
I intend to drive the 18 speed, single overdrive in 17th gear/direct drive/1.0 ratio and use the overdrive only when I need to do better than 57 mph. I was wondering what speed that .86 would do in this circumstances, never more than 80.
Sorry for the confusion.
