Hey does anybody know if MO is not allowing movement in rain? I read in te regulations that movement is not allowed during snow and ice and visibility less than 500' (didn't say nothing about rain). My permit I got today says slippery roads caused by snow, ice or rain. I've always heard Kansas was tough on this. Guess if this is true I'll be sitting until Friday. Entering off I155 from TN and forecast calls for rain Wed. and Thurs.

What is the specific statement regarding road conditions? Usually they say something regarding "roadways must be clear of snow and ice" or "visibility can not be less that 2,000 feet." We don't generally stop for rain, but I would have to see the specific wording to give a strong opinion.

i'm not sure about missery but kansas dot boy told me if your kicking up enough spray in rainy weather to block visability he can shut you down. missery has a hand book with all oversize regs. that your supposed to have. usally if it is raining bad enough that you cant see the traffic behind or in front of you get off the road! until the rain passes.

This statement is just below the routing
"Subject to adverse road and weather conditions. No movement authorized if roads are slippery due to ice, snow, or rain, or visibility is less then 500 feet. REAR VISIBILITY REQUIRED."
This is on a standard permit for 10'-06" wide. Like I wrote previously, I went to the MODOT website and read the regs and said all the above but excluded rain. Now I could understand heavy downpours but some drizzle?
My Kansas permit doesn't say anything on it but I thought they were pretty anal about even the smallest bit of water on the road. I might be wrong but I thought I read that somewhere. -
Alot of the rain deal can be officer descrison. SP?
Ks. / Ne. if raining better park it. Light drizzle you can get away with in those 2 states, but good steady rain, well it can cost.
Also check in Mo. for curfew times. That will cost you big time. -

Yeah Superhauler, I downloaded that MO book and it didn't say anything about rain.....but I think the visibility is where they can catch you. Excessive spray could prevent approaching traffic from realizing that you are oversize possibly. So I guess that would be the catch all. Unfortunately it is only forecasted to rain in a relatively small area that I havev to travel through but looks like it'll set me back a day or two. Once I get on US 412 I don't know of anywhere to stop until Matthews, MO. Guess I'll just take my time running across TN tomorrow. Thought I could've delivered this dozer Thursday afternoon in Woodbine, KS. Might not be until Sat. now. So much for a reload.

Rain usually passes quick in that area. I wouldn't worry too much about it until you see what you're getting into.

You can take this for whatever it is worth. We run through MO at least twice a week throughout the year (sometimes more). In 12 years, I can not recall shutting a truck down due to rain. I can not recall a truck getting ticketed or shut down for running in the rain.
