I checked with the BBB in Yankton and there is no record good or bad.
It appears that Gartner Transportation was the previous name, but there is no record of that either at the BBB.
It is claimed that Thomas Pokela is the owner, and he was indicted for fraud. I had some reservations when Rick Gartner had the secretary call me to tell me I was hired if I wanted the job, based only on my application, and there was only a day between the time I submitted it and the callback. I called and rick answered. I asked him what I needed to do and he said I needed to come to Yankton, take a drug test, and get sit up with a truck. I asked him if I could take it in Bismark ND. he said he would have to check and would call me back... been waiting all day and no call back. so I thought I'd check the net and see what I could find on Midcontinent Polar Express.

So far, it seems that I found only reason to be cautious. It would cost me $200 in gas to run down there to find out. Where I have not gotten a callback I am now hesitant to do so. I'll call and play stupid and maybe I'll get a clue.

Gartner transportation has the following corporate record in SD. Notable is that the last filing was 2008 and Midwest Polar was started 2010.
There is no report with the BBB for Gartner Transportation either good or bad. There does not seem to be a huge number of bad reports on the network.
The ones I have seen make me think that someone might have torn up his equipment and were butt hurt when he held them responsible for it... reminds me of George Humphrey.
A lot of people bad mouthed old George, but I worked for him for a long time and never had any real problems with him.
George made me pay for tarps I tore up, and tarps I lost etc., but I made good money. Sometimes he had trouble paying me on time, but never he never beat me out of dime.
As far as his attorney being indicted for fraud and being the actual owner of the company??... Well maybe he is in the good old boy's club, and that could mean lucrative contracts.
Contracts is all Midwest Polar does according to the records. Not a common carrier or a private carrier.
I think I'm going to take a drive and see what things look like in Yankton SD if the compensation sounds reasonable.
The accountant tells me she's been there since April and they are OK to work for. I sense that she was telling me the truth.
I've been out of the game long enough my options are limited, and there are not many of them that will give me a shot because of lack of recent driving experience.
