This might belong in the rants forum, not sure, since this is way too common to see in the trucks for the companies that hire new guys.
Congratulations on your new job at Swift, Prime, Schneider, etc...
Here's a lesson in highways that everyone who's been driving for only a couple months all the way up to guys driving for the last 50 years are thinking, but not enough people say it. The middle lane isn't this magical place where you just drive whatever speed you want and everything is OK. In a lot of places we're not allowed in the left lane, when you see these signs, start using a little common sense. That sign means that the middle lane is our lane to pass. Now, it's true, on high traffic roads, it's better for you to be in the middle than the right because of all the people merging onto the road... But if there's no entrance/exit for next 5 miles and all you're doing is driving the same speed as the two cars next to you, with MORE than enough room for you to move over to the right, and you're governed at 55 or 60 in a 65+:
GET OUT OF OUR WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you.

You have no "way" to your front.
You're welcome. -
common sense.
something that don't exist in todays truckers.CondoCruiser, hawkjr, pattyj and 1 other person Thank this. -
That's funny, because it didn't exist in 99 when I started either. I guess I could post a rant about Trucks tailgating me in the right lane.

Patience.....it's your friend.....exercise it. If someone is holding to the middle lane , wait for an opportunity to pass , then pass....

Maybe its just me but if Im doing the speed limit I don't feel obligated to get out of the way so someone else can break the law, possibly wreck it doing so and making life worse for everyone. That being said I always try to teach my students to stay in the granny lane unless you are passing.

If I am on a three land road and I am not going to exit in the community that I am in and I can drive the speed limit with no problem. You will find me in the middle lane. The right lane is for those who are exiting. The left lane use to be for Thru Traffic which would include trucks going through the city who could keep up the speed. But now, someone with less than a normal IQ has decided to only allow cars in that lane.
The vast majority of wrecks happened during lane changes. The Original Poster is talking about all the trucks who cannot keep up with the flow of traffic. My trucks are 75 mph trucks. We be in the middle lane.Grijon, SheepDog and blairandgretchen Thank this. -
As someone who has an ungoverned truck this is one of the prime reasons I give up and drive at 60 MPH in the granny lane most of the time. I very very rarely move out of it and almost never have to tap my brakes or reset the cruise.
I absolutely DESPISE trying to run the speed limit. Always end up in a situation like this with someone blocking the middle lane matching the speed of the truck next to him for 5 miles, or I get next to them and OH LOOK they're going the EXACT SAME SPEED as me. Tap the cruise up a couple MPH and OH LOOK THEY'RE SPEEDING UP TOO. Finally I get pissed off, put it on the floor and pass them at 75MPH, then they magically slow right back down again like nothing ever happened. Costs me fuel and it just wears me out mentally doing this over and over and over again every single day. -
... really?

I find it much more relaxing to just grab the left lane and go about my business. Obviously in most situations you would be speeding anyways so why worry with the left lane violation. Some people like to complain too much. It's an issue that will never change but I always hear the complaints on the radio coming from a truck who can do 2mph faster anyways. I just poke the old cat with the pedal rod and go about my business.
