Has anyone switched to these tires from another brand or model? What is your experience?

Michelin's website is telling me I'll gain 4% fuel economy over my present XDN2's. If that is accurate and I can get 2 years out of a set, they will pay for themselves.

    Anyone?

XDN2 has 138 rolling resistance.... XDA Energy has 99 rolling resistance.. So sure you can expect saving here.. I personally do not have any experience with it.

I'm running them. I switched from XDA5's that were worn down to 10/32 with 317 000 miles on them and saw no measurable difference in fuel economy. They say that's a good sign due to the fact that worn tires roll better. A 7% improvement in fuel economy between new and worn out. Also the fact that I installed them in the fall. So the fact that my mileage didn't worsen is suppose to be an indication that these tires were a MPG improvement.
I pull B-trains at gross %99 of the time so the RR of my drive tires represents a smaller fraction of my entire MPG picture than if your pulling a 80000 tandem setup. I've currently got 7/32 nds left with 284 000 miles on them. They start with 26/32 as appose to 30/32nds on the XDA 5's. So on the XDA5's I got 15850 miles per 32, and 14947 per 32nd on the energies so far.
The energies were much more quiet and handled as well or better in most conditions ( Canadian winter )
I will buy another set when the time comes. Hope this helps.

At least the XDN2 wide based do not have the 138 rolling resistance. They are 120. Still not stellar by any stretch. But I sure like 'em. I would consider the XDA Energy version on wide based, but they do not offer it in a retread yet.

XDN2 are great until they get to about 10/32. Then they are just another Michelin drive tire. New they are nothing short of awesome. For where I go at least. I'm in and out of BC all the time. But tires that pay for themselves in fuel savings sound even more awesome.

Generally, I would agree with that. But, I also am cognizant of the fact I need to be able to get in and out of some interesting situations that are off the traditional hard surface road, and are not just snow related. So I have to meet a compromise. The XDN2's do that, and that is also why I have full lockers in my drive axles. I do not have money to throw around playing "what if" games to see if a set of wide based XDA Energy's would suffice for what I do. I envy those that stay primarily on hard surface roads and can take advantage of the latest technology in tires. Given slightly different circumstances, I would probably jump at getting them.
