As you guys can tell, I'm new to the forum, but I've had my hand in trucks for a while. I own a welding and fabrication shop, and recently upgraded from an 05 Freightliner m2 106 to a 00 KW T300. We had to stretch the KW from a tractor to make it into a flatbed that worked for us. The truck came with a CAT 3126 in front of a Eaton 6 speed. 246hp motor pulling a 16k pound empty truck. Terrible.

The ECM just went south on me today, right after I found out from the dealer that the injector parameters were all over the map. The truck now sits dead. Turns out, I found a deal on a 95 (+/-) 300hp L10 with a 9 speed that's cheaper than an ecm and tuning. My question is, how will the ecm on the Cummins interface with the firewall harness on the KW?

    Thanks in advance!

First thing I'd do is check the laws on that... if that L10 predates the chassis, I'm pretty sure it's not legal on a truck which wasn't manufactured as a glider kit. Also, that 9 speed will be a much more lengthy transmission than your six speed, so you'd probably end up having to get the driveshaft adjusted for length. Then you'll also want to see if your radiator and air-to-air will be suitable for the higher displacement L10. I'm not familiar with the T300, so I don't know if they use a "one size fits all" approach with that model, or if they do like they do with the T800, where there'll have a substantially longer hood to suit an engine such as the ISX or C15 vs. smaller hoods and compartments for engines such as the C9, C10, L10, M11, etc. I would talk to people at KW about that.
Interfacing the ECM should work... you probably will have to replace the CECU, but I'd let someone who deals more with those aspects talk you through all of that, since that's stuff I never really got into thus far. I can say it won't be a simple "plug and play" swap, though.
Just an aside, medium duty ranges from 14,001 - 26,000 lbs. GVWR.

It would be easier to find an ISB to install, better motor than the Cat anyway
