Does anyone know if medical insurance will cover DOT Physicals? I have pretty good insurance that covers everything and would like to not pay for this out of pocket if possible.

IME yes they will. But most are only paying for one physical a year. So you can get the pretty much worthless DOT Physical for free, or you can get a real physical where they actually check things for free. usually I have them do both at the same time and pay cash for the DOT or I'll get the real physical at my doctor and go to a clinic where the DOT's are pretty cheap.

BC/BS does not pay for DOT exam.

I tried to get my last DOT Phy thru my personal Ins. I have same as Turnanburn. They said because it was work related it was not covered. Oh well, good thing their cheap (and worthless) but I'm sure that's going to all change here shortly. Good luck.

Sorry, but that isn't what "insurance" is for. Pay for it yourself, then write off the expense on your taxes. Seriously...a DOT physical costs less than half of what you'd spend taking the wife out for dinner and a movie. We aren't talking about some huge sum of money. Heck, it'll cost me more to renew my CDL in a few months than what I spent for the exam.

I think we pay about 250 a month for our insurance. A physical being medical related I think I have to disagree with you. A 100$ is a 100$.

my insurance pays for a physical once a year
and my doctor is on the DOT list as qualified
so she just filled it out no charge -
Have you thought of calling your Med Ins company and asking them, since everyone is different? -
Mega's pay for your DOT physical. What am I missing?
Tonythetruckerdude Thanks this.
