I’ve had my Cdl for quite some time now and received a not so pleasant surprise in the mail today. I live in Tennessee and received a letter from the department of safety and homeland security stating that my Cdl has been downgraded to a Class d license because my medical card hasn’t been updated. I actually did have my medical card updated on January 25th of this year and received a 2 year card. I’ve never been told to send anything in and my Cdl has never been downgraded. I immediately made a call and sent them my updated medical card and they told me they would upgrade my Cdl once they receive it. Has anyone else had this issue? I know some things have changed but I always assumed the physician performing the physical was responsible for submitting everything.

Yeah where I live you have to still one of those things out and send it in usually you just download it online and pick interstate and sign it and send it back with a copy of your new medical card then they upgrade their database withthe new information and your license doesn't get downgraded. you have to stay up on that type of crap and my stay usually they start e-mailing me 2 months before my card expires.

It's not enough to get your medical card. It must be registered to your CDL. Usually that can be done by mail or in person at your state DMV.

I would just call the DMV and ask them most places have the form online you just download it printed out and email it back to them with a copy of the new medical card that's the easiest way to deal with it.
To hell with going to the DMV.misterG, jlawson1979 and Lepton1 Thank this. -
In TN YOU MUST GO TO THEIR WEB SITE and follow directions and then in addition you can email your documents to the email address.
Go to this web site and follow directions. Then email your documents to DI.CDL.MEDCERT@tn.gov
Your CDL self certification & medical examiners certificate (medical card) must be in PDF format. I know 2 people that emailed only, received confirmation from state, and then received letter from state saying they had not submitted their medical card & self certification.. the email confirmation from state says "request is solved". Do both things above, and 1 day later call 615-687-2312 to confirm they have received your medical info or you could find out they didn't when you are handcuffed at the scales. I'm not exaggerating.Lepton1 and jlawson1979 Thank this. -
