Hello-I'm writing this on behalf of my brother. His CDL was suspended due to his medical card expiring. My question is, can he just get a physical and get a new medical card or does he need to re-take the road and written test? His card expired last year and his CDL is in the state of AZ.
    Thank you!

I have an Az. CDL with a current medical card. I asked the DMV chick what happens if I don't renew my medical when it expires this year. She said, my cdl won't be valid,(the cdl part) until I renew my medical card. If I renew my medical within one year, my CDL will be good again. If I wait more than one year, I will have to re-take all the tests again, written and driving.

I hope it's as simple as getting the physical and taking that info to Goodyear. He has a hard time taking tests, wish there was another way for him. Thank you for your help.

    A physical isn't a test.......Unless you're talking about the wee-wee test.

I am glad states I have lived in did not have the medical card linked with the license.
I went for 6 years or so without driving a CMV and without a medical card. But my license was never suspended for it.
When I went back on the road I just got a new medical card.

In the very near future, I believe all states will have their CDL program linked with a valid Medical Card.

There's talk but nothing official, more like rumors.
