I opened my own authority at the end of February 2020. Someone else did it for me.
The DOT number assigned ends with 1, so even though it's less than a year, I am due this January for renewal. No two years were given to us to do the renewal.
I'm on my way to renew the MCS-150 form, but I have never done it before.
Is it easy to do online? What are some things that a new person who never has done it might have any problem filling in?
Does it only verify your address, phone number, etc.? Anything else I need to know in advance to prepare?

I believe there are no fees to do it yourself.

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.

Yes it’s very easy to do. They’ll ask for your 2020 total mileage. Should already have other info address and commodities hauled. Unless you moved or changed operations, leave everything the same.

    Thank you, Rideandrepair.
I printed my quarterly reports filed just to see how the whole year looked. I might need that as well for the IRP renewal coming in two months.

Mentioned above. You will need your USDOT number and the PIN from the USDOT. Should have received a letter with this information. If you don't have the pin, you can request it be sent to you. They used to send it only by mail. Maybe today they use email.
It doesn't cost to update and you can update as often as you want. I update mine every year, so I don't forget.
Yes you can update online. Easy process takes about 5 minutes, if you hen peck the keys like me.

Beaver9 and Cat sdp Thank this.

It's asking for a NEW ENTRANT EXIT date. It shows only the NEW ENTRANT ENTRY DATE. Do I leave it empty as I found it?
Also, do I need to add my SS in addition to EIN#? The SS# area is highlighted in yellow. So, I don't know if I need to fill in or not. I found that area empty when doing renewal. I did add my fax number to the list and my wife as a secretary when listing officers.

Sorry I was before the new entrant program...... but I’d leave it blank as you found it.

I did mine on Monday leaving all the information the same except I changed the mileage. Mine was accepted.
You do not add your SSN.

    Okay,
the person filling originally picked only interstate over 100 miles.
But I am not restricted to only that. What about interstate less than 100 miles or intrastate miles.
Do I mark these off as well from the list?

UPDATE: I didn't play with those. I left it out. My update is completed. YAY!
