I was road tested today by a 21 year May vet. That says a lot! Received a very warm welcome from everyone I came in contact with!

At my school they have been teaching us on 9 speeds and I've been reading that they use 13 speeds, how is that handled on the road test during orientation ?

chances are your 9 speed was a 13speed, they just didn't let you flip the little red switch on the side

8 SPEED, 10, SPEED, 13 SPEED, 139 SPEED...THEY ARE ALL THE FRICKIN SAME!! SHIFT UP IN NUMERIC ORDER, SHIFT DOWN IN REVERSE NUMERIC ORDER

Every student gets onboard and says the same thing, "Well, we used 10 speeds in school, so, this is is really hard"

My response is always the same, "Did you shift from 2nd to 6th, to 3rd, to 8th, to 4th? NO? You went 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1? WOW! So explain to me the difference"

Not trying to be a jerk,I just fail to understand the issue that everyone seems to have. Get it out of your mind, and just listen to the truck, shift when it says is needs a different gear. Plain and simple. Don't let the shift pattern throw you off

The truck I am assigned has a meritor transmission with 10 gears, one button, the splitter on the front.I am just asking because I don't know the operation of the high/low button and we don't have any 13's at the school.

You will not be expected to split 5th through 8th during your skills test at May. Don't sweat it bro.

And once you do start splitting you will see that it is really easy to do. Plus the school would teach you the "right" way to split and then you would get with your trainer and he would teach you the "right" way. Your better off not getting the info from the school and waiting for your trainer to show you. My school had me all screwed up on it.

And i am very serious when i say this, listen to these above guys they will help you, and at times they may say something that either you dont want to hear or you didnt expect to hear and believe me they are usually right with what they say.
