Run an air management test and make sure it passes. Take it for a road test with a second person watching the laptop. Under full load rated speed you should be getting
90 psi of fuel pressure
36 psi of boost
exhaust back pressure less than 53 psi
Injection control pressure should match ICP desired
DPF diff pressure less than 1.2 psi
Right now you are at 65 psi of delivery pressure, should be 90.avgdzlmekanic and QUALITYTRUCK Thank this. -
I just want to post an issue we had and how it was fixed regarding this thread. So we have a Maxxforce DT EPA07 (EGR coolers are on both sides of motor) and the drivers have been complaning of this tractor not having power. They say it gets up to about 30-35 mph tops. I took it out for a test drive myself and what they said was valid and thats without a trailer. So I hooked up a laptop and saw some previous codes, but nothing active. One of those codes was for the VGT. I tested the VGT by hand and noticed that the VGT was getting stuck and wouldn't go through its full motion. I also noticed that the turbo was full of oil. So I ended up replacing the turbo, VGT actuator and crankcase breather filter. I put it all together and test drove. Same #### thing. That's when I started to look up info on why I don't have power. I ran into this thread and those specs that HeavyD gave are golden. I took the truck out for another test drive and we noticed we weren't getting any boost pressure and we weren't getting enough fuel pressure. So we replaced the fuel filter and strainer and test drove... same crap. I started to think on why we weren't getting enough boost pressure. So I tested the charge air cooler to see if any leaks. No leaks were found. I started to think some more and I realized that there was oil in the EGR system and there was oil in the turbo and CAC so it was probably caked up inside the intake manifold, which would mean that the MAP sensor and MAT sensor were also caked up. And the MAP sensor reads the boost control. So I pulled of the MAP and MAT sensor and sure enough they were caked up. I cleaned them up real good and reinstalled them. I test drove unit with laptop and immediately noticed that I started to get boost pressure. All my power was back and there weren't any further issues.
So moral of the story... check your MAP sensor people! That could be your reason for not having boost pressure.QUALITYTRUCK and Heavyd Thank this. -
@Heavyd are these specs the same specs for the maxxforce dt epa07? -
The 07 has some the same, some different.
Fuel pressure is lower at 65 psi
Lower boost at about 25 psi, depending on hp rating
Lower exhaust back pressure about 35 psi.
Same ICP, same DPF pressureLegacy_Lopez Thanks this. -
i am having a very similar issue with a maxxforce dt with it getting no power super slow throttle response. It will build next to no boost pressure, passes all tests and have checked everything you can think of that comes to mind when dealing with a truck like this. what fixed this truck?
