I am looking for a mattress for my father in law, but I am having trouble. Mattresses for trucks seems to come in many sizes, except for a 60". And Im not quite sure of the other dimensions. I have already asked my mother in law, and all she knows is it is 60". I dont want to ask my father in law, cause its a Christmas gift, and I dont want him to know about it. I was hoping someone here would know about the size of a mattress for this specific truck. Thanks!
Mattress for a 2001 Peterbilt 379 with 60" sleeper.

Actually just found out it is a 63", but still, this size is impossible to find. Arrggg

The mattress itself probably isn't 60" or 63", that's the size of the sleeper itself. It should take a twin extra long mattress. I bought a memmory foam and really like it.

Camden117 Thanks this. -
Thanks for your reply. I looked up what you said, the twin extra long, and that is 39" x 80". If the sleeper is 63", how can that fit? When you say sleeper, do you mean the "room" the mattress goes in. Sorry, I have no idea about trucks. haha I've almost given up on this gift idea. It's more difficult then I thought it would be to find a mattress.

I can pretty much guarantee you need the twin extra long mattress. The 63" is the size of the sleeper( or as you called it the "room").
If you're still unsure, look up the phone number to the peterbilt dealer in your area and ask them.
I probably wouldnt buy it from them. You can get a better mattress for less money at a regular furniture or mattress store. -
Ok, awesome. Thanks a lot!

Google "truck sleeper mattress" and several online retailers will come up. Shipping can be pricy. If money is no object and you want him to be forever in your debt, go to a local custom mattress builder and build one with solid latex core, and choose firmer (35+ lb) compressions for heavier individuals, at least 7 inch thick, with a quality pillow-top cover.

The "bunk" fits in the "Sleeper compartment". 63" refers to the length of the compartment, from front to back. The Sapp Bros truckstop around Omaha had nice, double-sided pillowtops in stock for a great price. I own one.
