I have a family member who went to work with Market Express in Portland Oregon last year, and 3 months after starting ,she is notified that her breast cancer had returned for the 2nd time. The driver kept working 6 -7 days per week and at times things were not good all across the board, between no communication with customer service/planners or maintenance issues or dealing with health problems loads have suffered...never was denied. The chemo treatments are $2800.00 each with a $725.00 co pay, ME came in and readjusted drivers pay that very same month with the average loss of 1200.00/month.Thats huge! So between the driver already having a copay for the meds and cutbacks because the company is"hemorrhaging" financially and drivers pay needed to be reduced. This driver can't afford her portion of rx as it is and now gets terminated, where were her accommodations to keep her job? This driver explained to Cathy the situation and asked if she could clean up in the shop, just anything to earn extra money and was told that it wouldn't be possible that it would interfere with her 70 hour clock.They moved quickly to get a dispatcher out of the office because she was incapable of working with some drivers and felt she was "bullied" and was moved her into a new postion that was made for her. It's not what you know, it's who you know. This f***** company left this woman in 100 degree heat with no fuel AND a card that was shut off because they didn't want to use a stop that wasn't "preferred." Driver had to shut truck down to conserve fuel (no ac). Ended up using her own $$ to fuel to the next stop! Who in their right mind does that and think that that is a great way to run a business! This woman is 60 years old with CA.! Now pt 2. This woman has pages of documents from another driver sexually harassing her, and documentation where she had voiced her concerns to different members of mgmt over the situation and asked for help and what did she get? Nothing.Nada.Not even a call from HR. You know why? They swept it under the rug thinking it will go away..Driver is still there and is allegedly involved in new drama with a minor female! ME has been thru this before where a complaint was made that they ignored issues about unwanted contact and they got sued. At this point I hope an attorney is involved goes after them. Praying the
driver prevails and it is speedy process where she can rest and get better. Can't treat people like that, especially if they are out driving out there making "Y

What human being would treat someone's Mom like that? Would you want your Mom treated that way? I know I wouldn't! There is no communication whatsoever and you have a woman who is 2nd in line of operations telling the drivers the in/ outs of the trucking industry, S%$/#!@</ (biotch) was folding ladies undergarments at Target last year! GTFO.
What a joke. If you want to have disrespectful mgmt, incompetent maintenance supervisors with their 8th grade cliques, payroll cutting abusive staff then apply with them.I know this is quite long but you drivers need to stick together! Your making these mofo's their $$ and your not a priority for them! You get cut! Office staff or the cook in the kitchen, they currently aren't taking a cut.. Drivers take it and ya'll need to band together and get paid for those pre/post inspections and paperwork time for fueling and whatever you do for free! That's called slavery! You need to be paid for all that #### you do. Bottom lime, they all have a degree of shadiness, Market has crossed the abusive/cruel line and hopefully they will have a few questions to answer..Thanks

Never been a fan of pay cuts. My opinion is if someone agrees to work for you for a pay rate and there is no performance issues from the driver, they should be paid that or more until the ship goes down.
Plenty of systems like safety bonuses, performance bonuses, fuel bonuses, etc. they could utilize to reward the good drivers and not lose money on the bad drivers.
They are correct about side work interfering with the clock though. Any compensated labor for any employer doing anything counts against the 70.Bud A. Thanks this. -
Slavery ended in the US in 1863. If the job isn't working out as expected, find another. I understand the reason she wants to stay is the insurance, but it isn't working out, so move on.

So, is it that she got terminated or that the company didn't offer accommodations to the person with the cancer? Not to be the bearer of bad news but federal law wouldn't even provide protections for her, if she had only been there for 3 months for her health issues at least. But the sexual harassment, she could call an attorney.
