30 years ago Mercedes Benz had a fully synchronized 10 speed transmission. This one you can shift the gears like knife in a butter, clutch is need it only for take off.
Why they stop producing them ?

Did they? You can get synchronized transmission in every truck in Europe. Volvo was trying to sell them here as I recall. But as far as using clutch for start/stop only that how I drive every day.

Drove them in European trucks we had in Iraq.

I was told synchronized transmission added about 500 pounds to the weight of the truck. Never understood that until I got my first over weight load.

the size of the synchronizers needed would be pretty heavy to sync the heavy gears in those transmissions. not to mention i bet they would wear out quick.

You can't shift a synchro box smoothly without the clutch, and a non-synchro box will shift smoother, both with or without using the clutch smoother than a synchro box, IF you know how to shift. If you don't, then you need a synchro box!

I rather have non sync. That gives me the option to change gears quietly without the clutch. Saved me a time or two. But you absolutely need to know what you are doing or you gonna wreck it all.
Why stop at full sync? Get a automatic if you don't wanna shift.
