Does anyone have any info on this company? I've used the search feature and there's nothing much. I know they take new drivers. From what I've seen they pay on %. They've been advertising in the local area here. From their website it's a small company and they do mostly flatbed. I was looking at van or reefer but maybe flatbed wouldn't be that bad. Any info would be appreciated.

I didn't see a running area or hiring area for them on their website. From one of the old post I read on here about training with them I was worried they just ran around Southern WI and northern Illinois. I see you're in TN so they must get down there. Any information is helpful. Thanks.

It's a small company - about 70 trucks. All flatbed except five sand haulers. Draw a line from Houston, Tx to Canada border and include everywhere East of there (except New York city). In last two years I've hit every state in that area except Maine. We are home on weekends. I've only been hung out twice in two years, both times just unavoidable circumstances. Tractors are almost all Freightliners. About half are 2007's which are being replaced pretty quickly. Rest are 2012 and newer. Pay is percentage with increases based on time with company. A new bonus scorecard system is just being implemented which looks like it will work out pretty well. Lots of loads leaving Chicago (steel plants) and southern Wisconsin near Janesville and Madison. Outgoing pays very well, but return loads sometimes not so well. That balances out considering weekend home time is virtually guaranteed.

Home base is in Janesville Wisconsin. Yard has a shop facility with two bays for service plus a wash bay. Maintainence is a primary focus. Every truck that pulls into the yard undergoes a safety lane inspection. Most repairs happen immediately. Routine maintainence gets scheduled for driver convenience and minimum down time. The service side of the operation is absolutely first class.

Dispatch operates from 7 am to 4 pm but is available 24/7. They take care, not advantage, of the drivers. They know where everybody lives and route (as best they can) accordingly. There are no numbers, just names. The drivers are treated as we should be - part of the team.

Dispatch, Accounting, HR, Safety, and Service are all tuned in on being safe (primary goal) and providing the best customer service possible. Take a look at the CSA scores.

We are on PeopleNet Elogs. We don't run illegal and are not asked to.

Mansur hires right out of CDL school, but requires a three week training and evaluation period with two or three trainers involved. The new guy is put up in a hotel during training and paid as well. An extra week of training is available if requested. By the end of the training time, the trainee is basically doing the job with the trainer acting as a helper. At least a week is spent picking up and delivering in the Chicago area. After that, the new driver will be on the road, on his own, with as much phone support as is needed from dispatch and the trainers.

I know that the company offers a good benefit package, but I don't use any of it (due to my own personal situation). HR can give all the details.

Driver turnover is pretty low. They are currently hiring because they are expanding the fleet (the five sand trucks).

Thanks for the info. They had run a few ads on the Dubuque craigslist and were stating $1000 a week and home weekends. How fun is it driving in Chicago all day? I'm guessing they do have I-passes with as much time as you'd spend there. How much Northeast freight is there? They must have a decent length of haul on some of those outbound loads if you get run out that far and still get home on the weekends. Do they pay tarp pay and how much of the freight gets tarped?

Good luck on $1000 per week if you are talking about takehome. We have EZ-PASS but are not allowed to run the really expensive tolls in Chicago area. It really doesn't make that much difference though. Chicago is just like all the rest of the big cities - nasty and slow during rush hour - which can break out at pretty much any time. Actually, 6 am to 8:30 am, and 4 pm to 6:30 pm are the worst - add at least an hour to your travel time. 9 am to 3 pm not so bad - add a half hour. After 7 pm you mostly own the road unless there is a sporting event, big concert or something like that.
We don't really deliver much in Chicago but pick up a lot of steel there - Central, Corey, Gerdau and Main mostly - and those are pretty easy to get to (and from). We do deliver some precast and structural steel to construction sites. If one of those is located downtown, there are staging areas and routing all set up.

We run regularly to Mass, NY, NJ, Penn, Ohio, NC, SC, Ga, Tn, In, Mi, Mn, ND, SD, Ia, Ak, Ms, Mo, plus often to Tx and Fl.

Oops, forgot to mention tarps. Paid extra for lumber tarps. Steel tarps are built into the load (paid on percentage). I tarp (just estimating) about half my loads. Of course, all bright steel gets tarped and some shippers require plastic or treated paper in addition. Some of the lumber loads going to treatment gets tarped. Less than ten percent of my loads have needed a lumber tarp - and I'm not complaining about it.

I'm sure the $1000 a week is gross pay. It sounds like a decent company to work for. As far as the training program for them, do they go through load securement there at Janesville or is it all at the shipper when you're picking up? Other than NY, NJ and PA it looks like a good driving area. I know as a driver you go where you need to especially without any experience. Does home weekends mean home Sat. morning out Sun night or do you usually get 2 days off? I know things can't be helped from time to time. I'm currently working a FT and a PT job and don't have much time off. My FT job is the one that I work the weekends at so it wouldn't be foreign to me if I'd get stuck out for one occasionally.
    Thanks again for the info

Securement, tarping, building bulkheads, etc, etc, etc.....both in yard and at shipper. During training, new guy watches, then helps, then does.
Home Friday afternoon, then leave Sunday afternoon or evening depending on delivery Monday.
