Man Killed In Hit-And-Run

SAN ANTONIO -- A man was killed in a hit-and-run incident Monday morning on the city's South Side.

Police said that the victim and a woman were crossing the intersection of Pleasanton Road and West Gerald at 5 a.m. when an 18-wheeler, which had a green light, made a right turn at the same time.

The cab of the 18-wheeler clipped the man, who went underneath the vehicle and was run over, police said.

The victim, who was believed to be in his late 50s or early 60s, died at the scene.

The woman was not injured and the big rig never stopped, police said.

The driver of the 18-wheeler may not have realized what happened, police said.

Several years ago, when I was in El Paso TX, an illegal was struck and killed by a semi-truck while running across I-10. Two days later, I was in Phoenix and they found a human arm on the highway that they connected to the fatal hit-n-run in El Paso two days earlier.

Last year there was a fellow riding a bicycle down the shoulder on AR-67... log truck went passed him and the wind sucked the guy up under the trailer. Killed him on the spot, driver never knew it until the Sherriff Dept. caught up to him about 50-60 miles away.
