You gotta run her hot for a couple of miles to blow it out.
Get on Interstate near you where its wide open and let er rip.

Very strange it ran ok when parked and now months later it is carbon packed so bad it won’t start ?
I wonder if the rings could be stuck from just sitting?
I also wonder if it would fire up and un stick the rings if someone gave it just a whisper of either in the air intake?
I think definitely for that kind of money I would get a second opinion. -
I dont think I'd try ether. Maybe some top oil....something thin enough to leak past the rings. Diesel or some K1, possibly. A boroscope would be a good idea to make sure nothing was left in cylinder before starting.
-
I just cant see throwing out a perfectly good engine cause the rings are stuck?
All the techs on here -- and no one knows of something to pour in a diesel to un-stick rings??
Sea foam?
Marvelous mysterious oil?
Coca-cola?
Kerosene?
Acetone?
Anyone? -
Cummins has special oil they use for carbon packed piston rings. The use it to avoid paying for a new engine under warranty. They make customer run the oil first to see if It can clean the piston ring.
Not sure is Diesel Force cleaning would help. That also clean the I side of these new emissions engines to clean out all the carbon build uprolls canardly Thanks this. -
It's $73 a gallon that just story about the Cummins ISX problem the oil they try to clean the piston rings

Maybe this also if it still starts

First read $220.00 a gallon, but then pried myself off the ceiling when I saw it was for 3200 gallons.
Try it; can't hurt.
Dealer, (Stealer,) did give you a viable option on the bottom of his diagnostic printout sheet.
Drop the oil, pull the pan, and get the pistons out and re-ring it.
Of course, when the pistons are all out, you really look over the bores for galling or scoring.
Gotta feel the top of bore also, to see if there is a ridge where the rings stop; depends on miles.
If there is - you have to take the top off, and run a ridge reamer around to remove this ridge.
If you don't, you run the risk of it interfering with new rings and breaking a top ring, or rings,
plural, in multiple cylinders. This is the shortest path, and least expensive repair I can see.AModelCat Thanks this. -
So is it possible that the carbon packing could be causing the crank but no-start condition?
