Hi all, got a question, engine is a M11 celect plus. Is there 1 oil pressure sensor for the ECM and 1 oil pressure sending unit for the oil pressure gauge in the dash? (2 in total or just the one? )

depends on truck.. Usually M11 oil pressure is read with one sender unit and ECM gets engine data with J1708 ore J1939 (Celect+).

The oil pressure sensor that feeds the ECM is new and is located very close to the EPS, on the fuel pump side of engine at front near air compressor. I also have 2 other sensors on the oil filter side of engine? dont no what they are, think one might be a oil pressure sensor for the oil gauge in truck (1998 kenworth) The oil gauge in truck /cab seems to be playing up, but the ECM controled dash lights never come on. so i think that it might have 2 oil sensors? thanks pablo

Truck maker can install additional sensors. like early volvos had addtional oil pressure sensor and addtional coolan temp sender connected directly to dashboard. but from '98 instruments uses data from J1708. on some late models from J1939.

'98 is too old truck for Ukraine, we have later 2001 models. and no additional sensors, all data with CAN

In a 98 Aussie KW the dash is not communicating with the engine ECM, but I have been wrong before.
One of the two sensors on the filter housing is probably for the gauge, and the other is a switch for the low oil pressure light.
    Are your gauges VDO?
What is the problem with the gauge, flickering or inaccurate?

yep i think it is VDO, it is NOT accurate. thanks for the info. there are two sensors on the oil filter side of engine block. I know the ECM oil pressure sensor is on the fuel pump side next to the EPS because cummins put a new one in a few months ago.

try to compare with ECM sender unit reading. use Insite, actual value:eek:il presure

Suggest that you take it to an auto sparky who can check the oil pressure with a test pressure gauge.
If the truck gauge is inaccurate he can then check its calibration with a resistor box. Sorry, I can't remember the calibration resistances. If the gauge is accurate it must be the sensor.
Also pay to check the engine, chassis, cab, and dash earthing as well.
New VDO gauges are now plain black and white rather than having the green and red markings that your original ones probably have. KW may have original gauges, at a price. The decal on the lens can be removed to fit the new gauge.
The sender is a standard VDO 5Bar sender.
