I will be taking CDL classes in the summer at my local community college. In the meantime, I've been researching around getting better prepared later on.
I have my sights set on doing tanker work. One company in particular I really like from reading is M.C. Tank Transport, Inc.
Terminal is nearby (Savannah) and they best fit what I'm looking for:
Drivers | MC Tank Transport, Inc.
(Good god that's some really good stuff.)
Only thing that worries me is the fact that they prefer the usual one-year experience, but I'm wondering if I call them down and talk to terminal manager, maybe they be willing to make an exception. (It seems they just want to weed out the unreliable drivers.) @Chinatown, maybe you might some insight on them.
From what I could tell, they seem desperate for drivers down there.
Does anyone here have any first-hand experience with them? I used the search box here, but it seems results about the company is pretty lacking.
Thanks!
M.C. Tank Transport? A diamond in the rough?

Savannah is tanker heaven, so to speak!
You can try the direct approach by visiting the terminal or calling. Unlikely, they'll change the 1 yr. experience, but it does happen. You can also go with a tanker outfit that hires new cdl school grads, then in 12 mos. switch to MC Tank.
Here's some that do hire new cdl grads. Websites may not indicate they hire new cdl grads, but they do. Sometimes the terminal manager makes the call as to hire a new grad or not.

Thank you Chinatown! A lot of the companies you listed I'm quite familiar seeing around here, especially McKenzie and Tidewater.
Chinatown Thanks this. -
I talked to a guy that drove for disetech at a washout in georgia. He said he hauled hazmat crap around Georgia, was home weekends, and guaranteed to take home 1,250 I think but usually took home more.
I personally hate chemical plants and wouldn't haul out of them dedicated for anything less than 100k year -
Geez maybe it was 1,400. I really can't remember lol
-
Also, why you hate hauling for chemical plants? Is it the wait times and detention stuff?
I saw about how bad it can be a from a Schneider tanker thread here about a really bad chem plant in Florida or Louisiana. -
I pulled hazmat tankers for 5 years and can truthfully say I never had a bad experience at a customer or chemical plant.
Can't say the same for reefers, dry vans or flatbeds though.RookieJ1987, ChicagoJohn and cuzzin it Thank this. -
