Lucas Oil Stabilizer is pretty much just a oil thickener. If you have a older engine that is showing low oil PSI and it needs to last a little while longer...than yes it can be useful. As for use in newer engines...I wouldn't use it. I prefer to run a high quality oil to begin with instead of adding things to it.

I used to use it and had more engine trouble. So I stopped.

Seen three different motor's that was saved because if it. But that was years ago. One was a rebuilt 3406 Cat with 200 miles on it. Oil plug was not tightened up. Thus it fell out with a loaded gas tanker behind it. The Boy got it off the road, and shut it down. We met him put in a new drain plug and filled her up with oil. Turbo was blowing smoke and oil like crazy. But when the shop did a tear down to replace bearing and the crank along with the rest of it. Found there was no damage.
This guy puts it in every truck at the oil change, he now owns 200+ trucks and still using it. So it has to be good or I would think he would have given it up years ago.

That's because it thickens the oil as previously stated.

A modern engine uses the oil extensively as a coolant, it is made to run a 40W oil when hot, and even lower, be it 5 or 15W cold, does not matter. if the manufacture wanted thicker oil they would specify that. Putting any aditive in an engine is 100% BS. I watched a guy come in with a new truck he had Lucas put in the transmission it failed, warrenty was denied, the oil did not flow like it was suppose to and the customer paid. Why is it that people believe that after listening to some sales pitch they know better than the manufacturer as to what should be in the oil pan.
I did engine, class eights for a living since 1970 and never had one customer come in and tell me he put in an aditive, not one.
Buy clean fuel and keep it clean, buy a good grade of oil and filters, change it, use a coolant filter, buy you lover some flowers that will get results additives are 100% sales pitch.
    Just a thought!

    CbarM and ENR Thank this.
