I've used Talberts and Fontaines.
Talberts have an easy connection mechanism and, as @johndeere4020 mentioned, are very durable and will hold up well to abuse.
The connection mechanism on a Fontaine is a bit trickier in that you have a bit less room to play with, but the gooseneck should have a height adjustment cam so you can set it to different ride heights as needed, and the trailers tend to have lighter empty weights.

I think we all liked him here in this sandbox. But like I said he must of peed in somebody's wheaties. First time he made an honest comment about a certain wanna be TV person married to a person who thinks he's a singer. That got him a time out. Thought it was all good

I am a Excavating contractor "31 yrs" by trade but have always had the door open to other contractors who needed equipment moved, the building business has been so bad since 2008 that i geared down my excavating business "sold off 80% of my equipment and in the past 6 years or so i have been doing more and more Lowboy work, which i like doing and if i can continue to get more work i would rather eliminate the excavating part of my business.
The lowboy work i do varies from Framers forklifts to 45 metric ton excavators, mostly local work "New Jersey" but i do work out of state if if the price is acceptable.
The Talbert 55SA i have now has been a good trailer and i like the new design in the adjustment of the height setting on the new ones.
Also Talbert has a good design for tucking the boom of a excavator which some manufacturers didn't have when i purchased it but are now copying.
I did hear of welding failures on the Talbert back in 2003/2004 but was assured when i purchased one it was isolated, i never had a issue with mine but a local contractor purchased a 80 ton 10' wide Talbert in 2015 and has had many weld failures and has had to return the trailer to be repaired.
I am looking for opinions and experience from anyone who will take the time, Thank You.Airborne, Razororange, Oxbow and 1 other person Thank this. -
I will say, if you are happy with your Talbert, then why not stay with that same brand. @johndeere4020 will be happy I called it by it's right name. Inside joke.
But like any trl. They all have their quirks and such. You know that style and it has been good to you yes, buy another one
Aspen is a great brand but pricy. Cozad is another.
Good luck in your choice and hope the hauling side keeps you busy and profitablesnowman_w900, johndeere4020, Dirty-Low-Walker and 4 others Thank this. -

Fontaine make a nice trailer, but so does talbert and trailking. Loadking's look decent, I think they are made by terex. I wouldn't think they would make a trl that wouldn't hold up to hauling their cranes. Dorsey has started making some. I know nothing about them. They have been making trailers for a long time. Mostly vans and flats though.

I have been looking at different types on Truck Paper just to see if something new or something i didn't know about was on the newer Lowboys.
One of the items i did notice is on the Trail King they have a removable deck over the tires which i like, the downside on that trailer is the back of the gooseneck doesn't have a area to hang chains and binders which i made 2 crossbars on mine and use the two stretched steel bins at each end of the trailer for chains and binders.
You are probably right about being happy with Talbert, just trying to cover all my bases.
Thanks and Good Luck to You Too!
