I have a 1989 444 big Cam. Over 1.1 million miles as low flow. Started running hot recently. We replaced the radiator, water pump and clutch fan. All were useless. She's still running hot when loaded. I'm considering a high flow conversion. My 444 is a 1210 CPL. I have a couple high flow parts trucks that may be of use. One is a 0217 CPL the other is an 0497. I know of a mechanical N14 close by that's high flow also. Any one know if any of these are candidates for organ transplants? My radiator is new so I'm thinking I'll just take the baffle out of the bottom of the tank, open the top tanks up for more flow between each other and add larger hose necks. Any objections or suggestions. Also can I just remove my restrictor rings from my water rail and keep using it if it'll work with another thermostat housing? Tips appreciated!

You need alot more than you think. Water pumps and belt are different. Radiators are different. Balance orifice tubes are different. Has t stat hsg. Been updated with vent tube drilling. What type radiator does it have now. Dimple tube core or not.

Also what t stats does it have. Collared or non collared. What is depth of stop seat in t stat hsg. Have you done the baffle test to the new radiator. Was the correct water pump installed. Last of all, is it possible you have the 2 water lines hooked up backwards. Have seen this many times and unit will almost instantly over heat shortly after t stat opens

There is a plug in the right rear of the block behind the oil cool. Put a 60 + psi gauge in that you can watch while you are driving. What does it read when it is heating up and you max rpm?
I doubt your radiator will work high flow but I never tried that.
Inframed one in an Astro that was changed to high flow by someone else. Water pump was original.

If you have a complete donor engine I think you have everything you need but it needs to be an older big cam.

I'm sure someone will be happy to correct me if I am wrong, but I think you need the water manifold, the thermostat housing, the engine to radiator pipe, the radiator to engine pipe, the transfer tube, the lines that go to the aftercooler, the older style aftercooler, and of course the high flow radiator.

I don't know about the water pump but unless you have replaced it recently while you're into all of that just replace it along with the thermostats.

I do not believe the parts from an n14 will fit, it needs to be a big cam 1 2 or 3.

The one I worked on had the old style water rail and thermostat housing. The front of it with the largest joint had the housing ground down to clear the Jakes. It was nearly to the o-ring. Had the 444 aftercooler but do not remember how it was plumbed.
It was a bit of a hack job.

There is a specific thermostat housing that works with the 7 bolt rockers and new style water manifold, you only change out the front section and remove the flow restrictors under the manifold.
