I recently parked at the new Love's in Davenport, FL. (Just outside of Orlando). My truck stop app includes reviews so I was reading through them. Quite a few drivers were warning that any trucks left unattended would be towed at a cost of $800 to get it back. Many had had this happen to them. I knew I had a full day to sit and I wanted to walk down the street to get food and watch a playoff game so I asked the fuel desk what the policy was. After trying to get a manager, with no luck, I was finally told that this was a corporate wide, national policy and that they had "no control" over who gets towed that it was a local company who does it.
The funny thing is that I just read an article about how Loves is trying to get a new Loves built out west somewhere (Montana I think) and the locals don't want it. So One of Loves arguments is that it will bring in a ton of new revenue to local businesses from the drivers who stop there. Well, how the hell are we supposed to do that when we can't leave our trucks unattended for fear of having it towed?
Why do we let these businesses who rely on us to treat us so poorly?

Did you contact corporate to confirm this ?

Why would your truck get towed if youre parked legally? I watched someone almost got towed at Loves in Tacoma, he parked in no parking zone and was blocking other truck exit. Makes sense to tow him out of there.

So if you fuel up, park it and then go inside to get shower you will get towed?

I think what they mean by 'unattended' is the drivers who park their trucks there and go home for days and not patronizing the location. Parking spots cost money, so they want turn over. Spending the night means you're likely spending money. Those drivers who use locations just for a parking lot so they can go home don't usually spend anything since they did their shopping at a business close to their house. And how many time do you go into a smallish truck stop and see day cabs just tying up spots on the weekend so OTR drivers can't find a place to stay for a break.

I've sent a complaint to corporate with the name of the manager on duty who refused to talk to me. Waiting to hear back.

Probably because the local truckers that dont want to pay for monthly parking elsewhere were filling up their spots.Always seems that a few bad apples ruin it for everyone!!
