Hey there! Just join this awesome forum and also recently became a owner operator. Since I bought my truck I have been bombarded with problems. I have 04 Freightliner Columbia 60 with EGR. I have fixed most problems like turbo actuator, airline from VPOD to turbo actuator, 1 bad injector, injector harness and I also cancelled the egr. But now evertime I'm bobtail or hauling a load my truck feels heavy and sluggish like something is holding it back. My water tempature is higher than usual around 170-190 and I am also burning more fuel. I have gone to many mechanics and nobody can find the problem. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

how did you bypass egr that might be the problem
-
Mechanic removed the EGR from the ECM and also blocked off the EGR hoses. Turbo sounds weak and makes a screeching noise. I get boost up to 1500rpms after that turbo is faint and all I hear is the engine working harder than usual.
-
sounds like actuator not adjusted right or vpod is junk
Felix773 Thanks this. -
I have a egr delete 14 liter but I run the 171702 turbo
-
Yea I'm going to have to change the VPOD tomorrow and hope and pray thats my problem. Don't really have the cash to buy a turbo and then find out that wasn't the problem either.
-
Thanks for the info LittleCat 500, I will get actuator adjusted tomorrow as well.

So today I got my VPOD & turbo actuator checked everything was working properly. I went under my transmission and found this. A hole with thread around the opening and on the inside looks to be a gear. Should that hole be open like that?
-
That's just your flywheel housing. Inside that hole is the flywheel, the teeth you see is the ring gear. Normal stuff.
Thats just an inspection hole to look at the ring gear. Someone must of took out the plug and never put it back. No harm either way.Felix773 Thanks this. -
Thanks, so after replacing turbo actuator, VPOD, airline from VPOD to actuator, air filter, Boost sensor, new boots and clamps. It turned out that the problem I was having was cause by a leaking CAC. Installed a new one and bingo! Everything started flowing the way it should, I felt the engine come alive again. Thanks for all the help from you guys.
