Check it out I used to run a loose leaf log book back in the days. But its been awile.

Are they still legal and if so, how many pages do you haft to have,is it 30 or 31. I actually started running one again and have 31 pages in it.

I just want to keep on top of it, I can run a loose ring book as well, as I have the folder for one.

Its actually "loose leaf" log books but yes they are legal. Many big carriers won't allow you to use them but the ones that do have their pages numbered so you can't cheat. I run 2 months worth of pages in my book and seldom mark one or two here and there void as a mistake to distract to show legal running and keep them from counting. So far so good.

My company uses loose leaf logs. They get scanned so it makes it easier.

Alright kool getting some answers. Can you have as many pages as that in the book though or is it just 30 or 31.

And how many do we haft to provide to the DOT wene they ask to see our logs. Is it just the last five days? Or do we haft show him the whole book.

You're only required to show the last 8 days. Today and the past 7.

I keep todays logsheet on a document holder/clipboard and my prior sheets inside along with all my trip documents. Blank sheets are in one of my overhear storage areas.

Good news is, no matter what, an officer cannot go back any futher than those 8 days from that very day you get stopped and checked. It is illegal for them to look back any further and they can catch hell about it so be sure to keep that in mind. The only time they can go futher is during a DOT audit but while on the road they can't look any futher. I've had a couple of them try and pull that #### on me and I didn't let it fly once they reached the 9th day and I asked them WTF they thought they were doing. Closed my book, handed it back and sent me on my merry ####### way!
