hi everyone, my 2012 Volvo has 500k miles and I recently changed the output shaft in the rear. Now the middle axles Differntial is loose. Iv had the truck for about a year, ALWAYS use a landing gear. what can it be inside thats making it loose?

when you say middle differential are you talking about power divider if so they get loose all the time nothing really new one thing you do want to check is if the slider is working properly sometime if they don't they will make weird noises on uphill and downhill also make sure you check your ride height that it is set properly

Ok cool. Just dont want the output shaft to break and damage the power divider. I spent about $2000 on the road replaceing the rear one last month and noticed this differntial is loose too. How do I check the height?

There should be zero play in out put shaft. If there is needs new bearings. Just did my w900. Had play no leak on seal. But changed anyways being I just dropped new rears in.

New lock nut and bearings an race with seal. Was about 175.00 that's for my W900. The shaft was fine even after using a cutting torch for the races. Need a big socket for the lock nut.
