Let me start off by saying i live in Ohio, I am 20 years old. Clean driving record. And will be 21 in november. The problem is i cannont find a school or a company that will train a 20 year old. And i simply dont have time to wait, I have bills that need paid. I would like to know if anyone here knows of a good school or company that will (likley) Train me. Thank you

Ah yes, the impatience of youth.

I hate to break it to you, but you are going to have to hurry up and wait.

I would strongly sugjest you check out your local community college and see if they have a driver training program. Might be well worth the while.

to be bluntly honest though, finding a Trucking job before you are 21 is going to be like looking for a needle in a stack of needles.

we ALL have bills to pay. here we are in the second week of september. by the time a private school enters you, then your training, then seeking a job, it may very well be into december, if NOT january before you get a job. so it would appear to me you're gonna do some "waiting" till your bills get paid. best to grab a part time job for now while you attend school.

I actually got in touch with tri state earlier today, bc its the closest to me. And they would train me now, but they did not recomend it at all. Saying it would be several weeks before i could take my test or somthing of that nature, and i would be more likley to fail.

In some states I am not sure about Ohio....You can drive in state only at 18. But finding a job for in state only would be hard. I live in WV. I could have got CDL at 18 if I chose to. Only to drive in state only. I am about to go get my CDL's now at 28. Will be starting school at the end of this month or begining of next month. If your 20 now with a B-Day in November I would just wait. Then it will be alot more easy that way for you to get what you need. Good luck with the CDL's in Ohio. I hear its real hard in that state to get them. I work in Reno Ohio now, I have some trucker wives I work with. They said its real hard for their hubby to get, and keep CDL's in Ohio. Good
    Luck

With anyone under the age of 21, they are restricted to in state driving only. That's a FED law/requirement. Must be 21 to drive interstate.

Thats just plain stupid, they said you'd fail because your 20? I passed on my first try when I was 18.

From my personal experience, and trust me I learned the HARD way. Sign up for the school, set a start date that has you finish school 1 or 2 weeks after your birthday. That way your good to go as soon as you turn 21! Thats what im doing now. Trust me you don't want to have to PAY OUT OF POCKET TWICE FOR SCHOOL LIKE I DID....

this CAN and DOES happen. right now, we have an 18 year old in class........he works for his dad's company one or two days a week, driving class B trucks, and when time warrants, his dad allows him to practice backing up his 18 wheelers.......

then there is all the school practice he gets, that is, when he shows up for school............sometimes, he can only come in 2 days that week.

he's already failed his DMV twice now.........!!!!!!!

blows the back wall right out.

just because YOU passed at 18, doesn't mean everyone else will.

a "good age" for people going to CDL school would be 21-23 in my opinion.

That's absurd. He's not having trouble because he's 18, he's having trouble because he's not practicing. He could be 50, and still have the same trouble with that frequency of practice.

Some people need more practice to get it, others are "naturals" aging isn't going to change that.
