First of all I would pay for a po box to have in mass so you can keep your license in ma. Reason being that a mass license every company realizes that you worked hard for this license and its basically like having gold in your pocket. That comes from my instructor with 35 years experience!

Contact the State of Vermont DMV and ask them. They can tell you how to transfer a license

A license is proof of residency. The State where your license is issued may require that all of your vehicles be registered and insured in the State issuing your license. You may be liable for resident income taxes in one State and non-resident taxes in the other.
It is very easy to transfer a CDL from one State to another State so why bother with all legal and logistical hassles involved keeping a license in a State other than the State in which you choose to reside and to which you intend to return?

It is not just about CDL. There are many tax issues, licensing and registering vehicles, voting, in state tuition that need to be considered. Before anyone does this, it might be wise to do some research and find out what the legal and logistical hassles are. Do you really want to return to Mass to renew your license or when you buy or sell a vehicle? Do you want to deal with two different State tax codes and filing?
Your instructor should be aware of these issues so I have a hard time believing he would tell you this.

Why would you have to you just keep your address in mass and live in vt. What's so hard about that and why would I lie about something so petty lol.

So use a family address and file taxes in mass. Other states CDL tests are wicked easy compared to mass and companies recognize this. For instance ma has 10ft of play on maneuvers and ct has 20ft of play there for its easier. Mass has 10 brake tests and like a 300 point inspection lol. Ma has walls so id you over hang a mirror over a cone thats a fail. your atraight back has 2 ft of play on each side. its tough! And not only that mass has a timed test of 90 minutes meaning you better know your stuff!

pretty sure if you can see straight in fl and do your DMV tests you can get one lol
