Hello all im new here thought this would be the place for good advice. I currentley am employed and have no intentions in quitting. I have had a single axle international dump for a few years now and i have made some decent side money. I do all my own repairs and maintenance. trucks are kinda like my hobby to so there not only my tools but my toys to so i get alot of enjoyment out of working around trucks. I have drivin a friends 379 dump for a while as well when he gets busy. I think i would like to sell my single axle and buy a full size dump. used of course something in decent shape. $30,000 or less. like i said this isnt my daily workhorse so i dont need what you guys have.ideally one day i would like to have 2-3 dumps and a small buisness but we will see with this economy! Or would i make more as a o/o and not paying two other knuckle heads to tear my trucks up. These are my questions:
1. stick with the litte truck or go big? Keep in mind i do all my own repairs
2. Dump truck vs Road tractor with a dump bed?
3. Stick with one truck or if i get enough work go to two? Where will i pocket more?
Thanks alot guys i apperciate any advice.
Looking to make trucking a side buisness need some advice

Ask around in this section . http://www.thetruckersreport.com/truckingindustryforum/tanker-bulk-and-dump-trucking-forum/ .
You need to give more info as to your location , potential type of work , etc . -
Lots of variables. What are you hauling, how is the industry there for what you're hauling, how dynamic are you as far as what type of work you can/are willing to do, what sort of dump body did you plan on getting, what configuration truck are you planning on (tandem, tri-axle, quad, quint, centipede, "superdump"?
What kind of work are you doing now with your single axle?
Whole lot of variables to cover here. Off the top of my head, I'd be inclined to say get a quad axle with a steel rock tub body... that's probably the most dynamic platform you can get as far as a dump truck goes, and about the best answer which I can give to such a broad question. -
Was looking into a tandem axle. prob a steel dump. Now im just hauling dirt, firewood, corn, mulch. I mean if i got tandem i would prob try to get some dirt or asphalt work. Im in the baltimore area theres alot of work just all in who you know.
