Hi I was not sure who to ask or where do go so I thought to give this place a chance. I am looking for an Owner Operator who needs a driver. I am new to Florida (Boynton beach). Drove a straight Truck for 13 years in Toronto and now I got my CDL class A. I would love to do dedicated or regional work. Not so much OTR because I have a young son who may forget me and a young wife who may leave me. Any referrals or advice would be much appreciated.
I tried driving around asking local places but that didn't work out to well. Tried craigslists but it's mostly OTR and national carriers just won't pay even fairly.
thank you.

Location would be a good start. Working for a small fleet they usual want someone who lives close by. I started with a guy that has 5 trucks. He lives in the next town over from me. I'm now leased on to him with my own truck. He only hires from the local area because he wants to see the trucks every weekend while the drivers are home. He has hired a couple of guys strait out of school but you better have a "can do" and "yes sir" attitude or you won't ever get hired. These small fleets can smell bs a mile away.
Ruthless Thanks this. -
Hi Tug Toy thank you for your reply. That kind of company would be perfect for me. But how would I find someone like that. I live in Boynton beach florida. I have tried craigslist with no luck and Google only finds me recruiters. I just want to find a small peaceful company with no drama. Do my work, do it well and come home to my family.

Drive around a 50 or 100 mile radius. Every back road and farm you can find. Ask a lot of people in your area who has trucks. If you see trucks and trailers go ask if they are looking for help. Don't tell them strait away you are fresh out of school unless they ask directly. Once you get to the decision maker then tell them. Ours is a flatbed company only. You may have to start in the shop or something depending on what other experience you have. If you keep your head down and ### up you will be in a truck in no time.

Start with some temp services that hire cdl drivers. They're a good way to find the right company you want to stay with. Trillium Staffing is one of the temp services, but there's more if you do a search.

How close are you to Williston,FL? Try Monterey Boats in Williston for a boat hauling job.
Sunstate Carriers runs to Canada every week from what one driver posted on here. Said he's home every weekend in Florida.
Might find something local with Comcar.
Keep in mind, you're in Florida and wages are low there for local work.Last edited: Jul 14, 2017

Fresh CDL, no tractor trailer experience, lives in S FL and wants a good paying local/regional job. I'm not saying you have no chance, you might have a chance if you are fluent in Spanish, otherwise it's very doubtful. You couldn't have moved to a worse place for trucking.
